B. not going out of my way to correct their mistake...unless we are talking about an expensive item.

Depends if I thought it would cost the cashier his/her job or how expensive the item was. Not really a yes or no question.
It would only come back on the cashier if there was a discrepancy in the till, but since she never rang it up it wouldn't. It would show up as shrinkage come inventory time or if someone happens to check the on-hands for that item.
I would forget about it. It's probably just a drop in the bucket to them anyway.

I will point out to the cashier one time if they don't ring something up. After that it's on them. I'm not going to try to spend money they don't want more than one time.

No, no way. You know how many times I go to the store and an item that is supposed to be on sale rings up at full price? I just let it go unless we are talking a huge amount of money. I've overpaid plenty of times, way more than I have ever under-paid.
And to the people who keep saying they would go back only if it were an expensive item: How would you not notice before you paid? Your total should be much less than you expect since the item was expensive. So you would have to make the choice right then and there on whether to speak up. I don't really see how you could walk out of the store without knowing you got an expensive item for free.

If I notice, I'll remind them. I don't enjoy getting "free" stuff due to human error. If I don't notice before I leave then it's just pointless to return.
When I do my weekly grocery shopping, I honestly wouldn't notice if they under or overcharged a few bucks. There's just too many different items to keep track of.

Probably cause the clerk wiped his arse with them and then marked them down cheap to see who would buy them.

I don't think I've ever been in that specific scenario, but I will bring it to a server's attention at a restaurant if they forgot to include something on the check.

But again, food is not going to get delivered to your table if it wasn't put into the system. The kitchen isn't back there just making shite and hoping someone orders it. The only way this would happen is if food is put on the wrong table when the server puts it in but then it should end up at their table, not yours and the mistake would be found then. The most common cause for this is when you split checks at your table and something of yours goes on your friend's check but they are going to speak up or you will, whoever notices it first.

Thanks for that, you are kind to say so. We do miss her and the girls are doing great.

The amount of justifications you can make with that massive leap of logic is hilarious.
Well, let me say if differently. If you have a conscience then you would make it right by paying for an item you intended to pay for in the first place. Otherwise it's deception to not even try because you are getting away with something and you know it's wrong. Also, every time someone doesn't pay up everyone has to pay. It gets factored in just like theft or the business doesn't make a profit and eventually closes. Yea, their mistake for sure but would you just let it go if you knew they overcharged you by the same amount? It's about ethics, morals, values, standards and a conscience. These are things seriously deteriorating in the world today. We are just trying to make a clear example to impressionable kids of right and wrong.

my wife once bought shoes and the chick rang it up wrong and only charged us a penny for the pair. We didn't really realize it until we got in the car. My wife wanted to just leave and said "it's not our fault". I said we should bring it to her attention so she doesn't get fired. We brought them back in and the girl that checked us out was super rude about it. I wish we would have just left. She probably deserved to be fired.

I know someone that brought something back they weren't charged for. They noticed in the parking lot and went right back in. They did the right thing and tried to pay for the sunglasses.
The store charged them with shoplifting and had them arrested. Ever since then I never go back because I don't want that to happen to me. They were punished for being honest. They ended up dropping charges but they shouldn't have to go through that.

Depends.
I ask myself, if I was charged TWICE, would I go back and correct the error in my favor?
If so, then I go back and correct their mistake. (Let's say they overcharged me $100.)
If not, I would not go back. (If they undercharged me $1.00)
