Do that. Looks like the snow starts around 8am on Tuesday at MSY. I really don't know if the airlines will fly anything to MSY tomorrow night and risk getting the planes stuck there until Wednesday

My concern is traveling to the airport then being stuck there with bridge/interstate closures. Odds are they will make cancelation decisions by tomorrow, hopefully.

My parents land Thursday 12:15 am, I think they’ll land with no issues, it’s the driving home to Tangi, that I think might be in question.

Serious question. Does BTR and MSY have de-icing trucks?

Ask Dallas how that worked out for them. And me.

Same. Last thing I want is to be stuck at the airport because my flight got cancelled and then I can't drive home because of road conditions.

No issues at MSY - Teedy has ordered all Flambeaux to be at the airport at 5:30am to start de-icing the aircraft.

I think y'all are over reacting a bit

Tuesday AM will be fine to fly out. Late afternoon I could understand some concern

I don't really know why my initial post got 11 downvotes, but for everyone else, I just got notification that my 7:30 am flight out of BTR has been cancelled by American Airlines.

3-5 inches of snow plus a 1/4-1/2 inch of ice is a big deal for an area that never gets it. It is more cost effective to shut things down for a day or two than to keep snow and ice equipment in mothballs for 5-10 years.

Yes, they both do.

Now do they work, that’s another conversation.

So, you don’t think planes fly into or take off from snowy runways?

Here in Houston both Bush and Hobby are closed tomorrow. Was announced yesterday.

Not in Louisiana, I don't. On top of that, people can't drive to the airports in Louisiana if the roads are iced over and the interstate is closed. It's not like we have snow chains to get there.

You need the equipment, personnel and training to clear runways. Also need same thing for the VSR’s and envelopes. It’s not necessarily about the planes.

I was rebooked to fly to DFW, which is normally a cluster. No clue how it would be flying there tomorrow, but I can't image it will be a smooth operation.

And now, unsurprisingly, rebooked flight cancelled.

Just got my boarding pass for a late night flight tomorrow. Guessing it’s going to get canceled, will probably just fly to Dallas and drive home.
