I got a summons for federal court last year. There was a number I had to call every day to find out if I had to report the next day. I never had to report.
I had this for Orleans parish once. I didn't have to report either.
ETA: I had to get it postponed because I was PM'ing a project that couldn't be delayed, and then I didn't have to report on the postponed date.

I would imagine the average poster would never be allowed to be on a jury. The defense attorney KNOWS their client is going to jail for the max unless they are 100% innocent with the avg. poster here.
How do they know if you are a td.com/ot poster?

I sat on a federal jury a few years ago for a drug and gun case. It was actually pretty boring.
Cell phones weren't allowed at all in the courthouse, and 90% of the jury had to drive about 2 hours to get to the courthouse so most of us had to stay in a hotel.

I was on call earlier this year, but never had to report.

always wondered about those people on the OJ jury. They were stuck there for months.

2006. SELA was starving for jurors as a result of Katrina scattering the population. I got 2 summons in a 6 months period, and never before or after that.
I was working a contract gig out of state and wasn't able to serve because of that.

Gulf Coast Casanova trial, 2015. Didn't get picked.

I’ve been called three times. Picked to serve once, actually ended up being jury foreman. This was about 10 years ago or so. The case was a kid accused of robbing a tanning bed/video rental place and pistol whipping the lady who worked there.
The evidence against him was the lady picked his picture out of a line-up of local juvenile offenders. They also had a video clip of the guy in a security camera but he had a hoodie pulled up and all you could see was his forearm which was quite big and muscular.
The defense for him had a series of eye witnesses who all testified to his whereabouts during the time of the robbery. These included his grand mother who looked about 112 years old and his boss who picked him up from his home that morning and took him to the job they were doing in B’ham. The final witness was the owner of the house in B’ham who verified the kid was working at their house all day long. Then there was the fact this kid’s arms were about the size of a #2 pencil unlike the perp in the video who was huge. Plus the prosecution had to admit they never found the clothes worn at the scene, the gun used in the crime, nor did the kid or anyone he knows own a vehicle similar to the one seen fleeing the scene of the crime. Needless to say it took us less than 5 minutes to find him not guilty.
The sad part of all of this is the kid had sit in jail for months awaiting trial for a crime it was obvious he didn’t commit.

Being on that Jodi Arias jury must have been interesting.

Been summoned 3 times. Selected for jury twice. One civil malpractice suit, one federal mail fraud case.

I get called every year. It’s a small jury pool here since there aren’t many documented full time residents.
It’s an easy free day off from work even if you don’t get picked.

quote:Funny story. A friend of mine was selected for jury duty years ago when he was in his late 20's. They had about 60 people seated in this big room, and the DA says, "We're selecting jurors for a drug trafficking case. Has anyone in here ever used, sold or bought illegal drugs?"
Been summoned a lot. but have never been picked.
My friend raises his hand and looks around, and he's the only one. DA says, "You're dismissed son."

Not that they would know but the avg. posters views / political leanings will get them booted from a jury pool.
