I'm here now and it blows.
Been here for 3.5 hours and no one has even been called into the court room. I'd rather be at work.

I have been called 3 times, the last in 2012.
Every time was just sitting there half the day and then being told we wouldn't be needed.

Not answering this and knocking on wood at the same time

Been summoned a lot. but have never been picked. Dammit ! I want to send someone to jail !
For the last ten years I have been called about 8 times.
After the 4th time I just started ignoring. I don't have the patience to go to downtown Houston. If I wanted to deal with the going downtown I would have moved inside the loop instead of Cypress.

Funny that this thread showed up today. Actually got a summons for next month.
It really goes to show you doesn’t it.

Last month was the last time.
All together maybe I've been called 3-4 times in my life, never gone. First few were due to me being in the military at the time. This last time I simply hadn't checked my mail in a while and missed the summons.
Wouldn't matter. I know how to get out of it. Racist comments do the trick.

The one and only time I got called, I was selected to serve on the jury of the Jaime Day case. A terrible child abuse case in Lake Charles.

I am 33 and I have never been summoned for jury duty.

Probably 3-4 years ago. Sat in the jury room watching a movie until they decided they didn’t need us for cases and released the whole panel.
And I’m not sure where you are but district court and the federal courthouse in BR both ban phones.

I'm due to serve 6/19 in Jefferson Parish. They assign you a Standby # and you call them the day before and they tell you whether to show up or not.
I was called for jury duty earlier this year, made the call the day before, and was told I wasn't needed. I had no idea my name would go back into the pool and that I'd get called up again just a few months later.
I'd just as soon get it over with.
BTW I served in a jury pool about twenty years ago in in Jefferson Parish but was not assigned to an actual jury.
I also served as a juror (Jury Foreman, Head Juror, or whatever the heck they call you, actually) about thirty years ago in Orleans Parish. Sent some poor schmuck to jail but the case against him was solid.

Lucky is relative.
I got stuck doing federal jury duty on my day off one year. The only good thing was that showing up and not getting seated on the case ended up getting me released from the six month period where I was expected to drop everything and show up if they called.

Never been called. How's the free lunch?

I was summoned when I was 18 or 19, but was able to get out of it because I was in college.

When I was living in Orleans parish it seemed I was getting them all the time. I blew them off..until I got a grand jury and showed up thinking I could be arrested..I just showed my college ID and got out of the duty. Fast forward to Jefferson Parish. Since 2006 at least 4..I went one time and was not chosen. But JP will send an email (the day before) saying you are not needed and your name goes right back in the pool. I called and asked why am I getting picked so much? The lady said it is computer generated and admitted that I was picked a lot. That was 3 years ago and haven't gotten one since.

Last summer, got selected as an alternate for the grand jury. Never had to report in after the initial selection day though..

always wondered about those people on the OJ jury. They were stuck there for months.
And they are still making money off of it. Poor them, they won the jury pool lotto.
