I had the same thought a couple of months ago, then I contracted the worst cold I could remember having.
The worst part was the hacking cough and secondary infection that lasted for weeks longer than the other symptoms.
I kept thinking I’d shake the cough, but it took a round of antibiotics and prescription cough medicine to finally get rid of it.

we're in a bowl (cumberland plateau) so pollen and yucky stuff tends to linger and sinus infections are very common.
i wouldn't say i have gotten anything incapacitating; in fact i've had covid about 10x now
and it barely lasts longer than 24 hours; just sniffles, sometimes loss of smell/taste and i just go about my business but try to be respectful and avoid others.
then there's usually at least one sinus infection in the winter but humidifiers definitely help on that front.
the kids bring flu and strep home and my wife works at an elementary school so i think they are exposed to more due to that.
so knock on wood, nothing that puts me on my back, just a couple of days of snot and coughing and maybe a headache.

I had a slight cold, just congestion at night and a sore throat in the AM, about 2 years ago and prior to that it had been over 10 years. No kids in the house and all my staff is old enough that their kids are out of the house. Back in the 90s and early aughts, my staff all had little kids and so did I so I would get 2-3 colds a winter. I imagine if I got one of those bad ones again like from that era I would think I was dying because it is so far removed from my memory.

How many claim covid had the flu or a cold?

Pure blood.
I don't get colds and never got Covid or if I didn't the symptoms were so mild that I didn't realize I had it.

quote:flu followed by severe respiratory infection for me in may, lasted almost a month and I did feel like I was dying LOL. It was weird though as the only symptoms were persistent fever, a constant headache and cough

I have two in daycare so we live with some form of the sniffles. The fall and winter is one constant state of sickness. It pisses me off just thinking about all those snot nosed kids.

I've had a sinus infection for the last 2 months. Frontal cavities in the forehead completely blocked off.
I wish euthanasia was legal here in the US.
Does that count?

I have 3 kids in 3 different schools/daycares, on different sports teams, and a wife whose job is to visit every hospital and doctors office in the area weekly.
I work from home.
They are all trying to kill me. I get whatever crud they bring home every time.

I went 12 years without one. Then a year ago I got a horrible one. I went to urgent care and the PA listened to my chest and said OMG. I couldn't sleep because of the rattle. Was back at the ENT 10 days after that. I was sick for 1 month. Not fun

G/F had tickets to the symphony in April. I was sick then. Fortunately, I was able to drag myself out of bed and play golf the next morning.
