They charge more than most lawyers. The going rate seems to be $400 an hour, I should have been a photographer.

Most of them have no idea what they’re doing
Just bought an expensive camera and titled themselves as a professional photographer

Shooting the pictures is 1/10th of the work. Most will spend several hours editing images.

I’ve hired a couple of Facebook stay at mom photographers for a discount with mixed results. You do kind of get what you pay for.

bullshite. They run them through their software which removes red eye, overbrightness, and soften tones. Takes maybe ten minutes. Then they sit on the pictures for a few days so they can justify the price.

I know this because my aunt is a photographer and she uses that bullshite line as well.

That's so they can afford to eat on the 362 days they aren't booked.

The entry cost is relatively low compared to what it once was and the market is over saturated.

Almost Everyone has photo level equipment on their smartphones now. It’s becoming an obsolete thing

You proved the OP’s point. Great photographers don’t rely on editing images. The shot itself is good. That’s kinda the point.

Have you tried offering them "exposure" to your social media followers as a form of payment?

I hear that works out great.

You get what you pay for. There are definitely some bad photographers out there who don't know proper settings or photo editing techniques. I've got a coworker who does photography on the side. Sweet girl but her inexperience really shows.

If you want backgrounds for shots that can be expensive but if you are just doing outdoor shots then don’t spend a lot on a photographer

the market is over saturated with a bunch of hobbyist who don't know what they are doing, so the legit photographers can charge more because they are becoming more rare, but still highly sought after

What all does the rate entail? Location? Editing is a hassle for a good one.

Wait...lawyers complaining about high hourly rates to do "nothing". Ha...smfh

I hope so, along with everything related to weddings that is inflated.

Ask them what kind of equipment they use. If they have a Canon Rebel series then hang-up.

Oh there are a ton of hobbyists out there, but besides the equipment, what makes one a “legit photographer”?

Sure there’s skill and shot set up and stuff involved for filming and all...but for wedding pics? It’s an entry level job. Just get a bunch of action shots
