Will they usher us into a new era where there are no more countries anymore?
No more political parties?
No more need to till the soil, carry water and chop firewood?
No more money is needed?
No more wars. No more need for nukes. No more need for religion.

By the way, when is this supposed to happen? I can't wait. I am ready with open arms to embrace our new alien overlords and gods. Whatever.

I just want them to enforce one thing.

There will always be assholes who believe they have the right to rule over others and there will always be those who follow them blindly. Conversely there will also always be those who don't wish to be ruled over and will push back against the assholes.
All that said, these sorts of events have usually proven to be insane amounts of hype around something which is essentially meaningless.
