The diagram is correct. I thought he was saying to go unto the outside lane from a left turn.

This image is correct, notice how the cars align with appropriate lane they would be turning into, this is also why it’s the appropriate move for a u-turn as you need a uniform rule for intersection turns, you can’t have some cars taking the inside and some taking the outside.

Ehh I mean that’s kind of a key distinction to clear up, no? You can’t claim opposite car was “turning right” but you really meant turning to your right (that means he’s also taking a damn left opposite of you).
That’s not semantics. No one else would claim that car is “taking a right”.
You confused me too and apparently others. I had read through the earlier messages several times trying to make sense of it. Decided to come back and revisit when things hopefully got cleared up or a diagram provided.

This is what I was thinking they were talking about. It’s definitely the best way. However, people everywhere are much too dumb to comprehend it. Better to just get a higher up vehicle so you can always see even if the other motorist doesn’t know this hack.

In Texas that depends on the width of the median.
When narrow and correctly crossing in front of each other both cars can usually see oncoming traffic as long as they both start pulling out while angling over (some are poorly designed with curves hiding oncoming traffic).

Above is about signing the intersections which isn’t always done. Many people view it as being the median next to you on your left and do not pay attention that median on other side of intersection (in front of you before turning left) might make it a wide median if that direction doesn’t have a left turn lane or other lane reducing width of the median.
Other thing I used to see was when wide medians got turned into narrow medians with a turn lane or thru lane added by narrowing the median, and drivers would not adapt to change from any of the traffic.

You are correct. Many traffic issues are related to bad drivers who don't know the rules of the roads and people on their phones

I don’t know the rule wherever you live, but here in Texas it depends on the width of the median. Narrow medians, you go to the inside. Wide medians, go to the outside.
But in reality nobody really knows wtf they’re doing so everyone just kind of wings it as best they can.
