re: When joggers and walkers use the road instead of the sidewalk

I much prefer the hot milfs in yoga pants walk two abreast in the road instead of on the sidewalk. Makes it easier for me to call to them when I slowly drive past.

The streets I commonly see them on have well maintained sidewalks so that is no excuse
bullshite. Majority of sidewalks in subdivisions are required to be put in by homeowner/builder when house is initially built with little to no over site. Once built, they are responsibility of homeowner, not a bgovernmet body so 99% are not cared for at all

There's also a better chance of being seen on the road than on the sidewalk when crossing streets.
This is why I run on the road whenever possible.

I'm fricking speechless as to why so many people downvoted you. Guess cuz there's many idiots out there.
I’m hoping the downvotes are just because it’s a low quality thread.

White trash
Roads are paid for with tax dollars and are for public use. There’re no laws prohibiting runners from using them. If you can’t handle people doing normal things, then stay home.

Like cyclist who won’t use a bike path 8 feet away

Just earlier today I had to actually come to a full stop for a jogger in the road because there was a dump truck coming in the other lane and I couldn’t go around her. Then after the truck passed she crossed the road right in front of my car. If I wasn’t paying attention I could have easily run her over.
Not only is it stupid to run in the road, it’s dangerous.

Anything that is in the road that can not maintain the speed at which the flow of traffic is going does not belong in the road and is asking to get run over. Get out the way idiot

I’d guess most runners pay more in taxes than you

Are they paying property taxes on their shoes?
Drivers do pay taxes at the DMV toward repairs and maintenance on roads. Would you be more accepting if they paid into road repairs?

Not in Louisiana. If a sidewalk is available, you must use it. I wish they'd start ticketing trashy people who run in the road more.

Walk on an interstate and let me know how that works out for you.

Interstates have minimum speed limits.

Bears repeating, you bunch of whiny blubber burgers.

People park all along the sidewalks and leave their trash cans, limbs, etc…. Sucks keeping a steady pace constantly having to dodge stuff . Just quit being a fat a-hole and share the road.

When I used to jog (I only jog my memory now), if I couldn’t jog/sprint at a track or local park, I had a varying 5 mile route in the neighborhood: sometimes 10 trips around the long block or 2.5 miles one way down a near main street and 2.5 miles back.
Lots of sidewalks are busted from tree roots or city neglect. Very hard on my ankles/feet/knees with those mini-hurdles. Running in the street near the curb, like a cyclists path, was far more even.
But a lot of neighborhood cars are parked on the curb. So, streets are obviously clearer. But I was mindful of cars driving and would respectfully avoid a distant but approaching 2-ton life-ender/body-maimer. There was more of a chance of getting hit by a backing out car from a driveway than there was in the middle of a street.
Also, there’s greater distance in the middle of a street from a loose dog or hiding mugger than there is on a sidewalk.

The biggest difference between a runner and a bicyclist is that the runner is running into traffic and can easily evade oncoming traffic. The bicyclist is going with traffic and they can’t get out of the way and impede the flow.
The vast majority of the people I run with either run in low traffic areas or in higher traffic areas in non-peak times. Sidewalks generally suck to run on.

Man LA is a fat arse state. The reason we really run on the roads is so you can hit us and we can call Morris Bart. I run in the street in my neighborhood, it’s not a hwy. people can slow the fuk down and go around. Chances are I will have to pay for your diabetes one day so I need to stay healthy. By my health being good I also allow y’all to have vaccines at your disposal since I won’t need one.

In my neighborhood there are two sections of sidewalk that are pretty angled. I switch to the road for these two sections for my ankles sake.
