Runners and walkers have just as much of a right to be on the road as you. No, they don’t. They don’t build sidewalks for the fun of it. You’re expected to use it and not walk in the street.

Yea, in many states it is illegal to walk or run on the road if a sidewalk is available.

It’s also “illegal” to speed or text and drive but ppl do it anyway. That’s my biggest concern is the amount of distracted drivers on the road when I run. I will run towards the traffic though and hug the sidewalk as much as possible. If I notice a car not giving me much room I’ll try to get off the road if possible. Never really see people running in the middle of the road. That’s just dumb.

My only regret is I am late to the party, page 4.
And I'm a cyclist and will hit a jogger in the face.

Everyone complaining about people running in the road and not on sidewalks need to voice their concerns to their local politicians and law enforcement officers. I'm sure they'd love to do something about this public nuisance.

Sounds like you live in an extremely trashy area….seriously.

No it’s actually a very nice neighborhood. There is one kinda sketch neighborhood that I have to cross through to get to some other places I like to run. Just because someone has a little money doesn’t mean they’re automatically a good/clean person. My Muslim neighbors are loaded but they’re nasty , inconsiderate assholes.

Anything with a motor has to yield to no motors.

To me, it's the same as bicyclists. I don't care if you are there, as long as you don't impede the flow of traffic.

Lot of potholes in the sidewalks where you live?

No but a lot of uneven concrete slabs. I have tried running on New Orleans sidewalks before. That lasted about 100 yards.

LOL what???

Bicycles have to follow the same traffic laws as motorized vehicles.

Pedestrians have to follow the signals at crosswalks. They don’t automatically have the right of way.

I could name many other situations where your blanket statement is false.

’s the fact that I’ll come around a corner in my neighborhood and there’s a jogger in the middle of the fricking road and I have to slam on my brakes.

Damn how fast are you going in your neighborhood? I think I may have found the issue

I’ve been told that asphalt is “softer” than concrete so it’s easier on the joints.

You’ve been told correctly.

And I highly doubt they are running in the middle of the road.

I also don't like bikers riding on the walking trails or sidewalks. They seem to think they have it all.

Roads are paid for with tax dollars and are for public use. There’re no laws prohibiting runners from using them. If you can’t handle people doing normal things, then stay home.

In Texas there is.

If a sidewalk is available, running on the road is illegal. Couldn't find Louisiana in brief research but found some other states that align and some mention that is generally the case nationwide.
