Gosh i know a few in their mid 20s who are making a TON of money doing travel assignments in larger cities. Like 4-6k a WEEK at 25 years old

Stepmom is a respiratory therapist and works on covid floor. They have a ton more patients. Are exposed to the virus constantly, patients want to argue about every little thing you ask them to do, especially the old ones, doctors don’t follow protocol when changing settings on ventilators, etc from what they were set on. If something happens, there’s no chain of who did what. They’re also working a ton more hours. I don’t see why internet dumbfricks want to attack these people because some of them are obnoxious on Facebook.
I agree. And the jealousy abounds, otherwise why start these threads?
I’m a nurse on a Covid unit and it can be anywhere between an awesome shift where all my patients are great, or a terrible shift where my patients are whiny bitches like you all,
or where we terminally extubate someone who has lost the battle.
Why are you guys so jealous? Or maybe you aren’t but just like to gossip like a bunch of housewives?

the big difference is the risk of infection they face being around COVID all the time,
They aren't around it all the time, not everyone that has worked with covid patients has done it every day since the beginning of the year.
And they come into contact with lots of diseases.
And they still go out and about around people.

Disagree. NONE of them ever come home with TBI or PTSD or depression. Military members never commit suicide either or have substance abuse or mental illness.
Moron.

Has nurse posted in here yet telling everyone to wear their mask?

As I posted above, soldiers and Marines in combat arms positions have lower rates of PTSD, compared to the military at large.
It’s probably a mixture of self selection, selection, and training.
Regardless, you don’t see people holding it up like a badge, like some people in the healthcare field do, with covid.
As a rule of thumb, people who complain about how hard their jobs are, usually have it pretty easy. They complain because their job is easy, and because that makes them feel insecure.

I support our health care providers 100%. In addition to having completed 39 straight weeks of radiation treatment, successfully, for prostate cancer, I also recently had bilateral hernia surgery. Throughout both processes, I was damn glad to have had such qualified medical experts taking care of me. Their pay or hours never once came to mind. Safe to say no one sitting in a virus - related waiting / ER room is worried about either, too. Nurses are human & I'd much rather have them vent on Facebook vs when I am being treated.

Before they sat on their asses 4 of the 12 hour shift. Now they have to work 10 of the 12 hours.
Seriously. Ever notice how few thin old nurses there are? Lazy jobs are the ones people get fat in.

Save your breath. People who have their minds made up and won’t change under any circumstances.it would mean admitting they might be wrong. Which might mean changing or adjusting their world view. Yes I make overtime. I’ll have a pretty good year paycheck wise. But I didn’t get thanksgiving with my family and don’t get to spend as much time with family. May not get Christmas.
But they won’t answer my questions. How many dead will make it serious. What makes it bad enough to take seriously? As long as it doesn’t affect you directly, it’s not a big deal?
And yes, travel nurses are making a killing. I get text and emails everyday from companies for 70, 80 to 100 an hour to go to th hotspots. But there are no guarantees. And you commit to 48-60/hrs a week under uncertain circumstances and you have no control. I know people who did it. Most are thrill junkies and want to make big bucks fast. That’s fine. I would have done it when I was young. But none felt safe or felt like they were always doing good work. Just trying to get to the end of a shift with everyone still alive. The conditions they were working under were terrible.

shite getting so bad they offering $10-20,000 sign on bonuses for nurses to take jobs. Lol
Posted on 12/3/20 at 10:51 am to Dragula
CRNA here. shite was bad in the icus in March April and may. shite is much calmer now. Felt bad seeing the nurses and rt taking care of the covid icu pts. It was crazy and a lot busier than any other day. Burn out was bad then. Things are much calmer now. But BR is heating up and I expect NO to follow soon.

There are some hospitals, albeit very few, that have nurses working double shifts and shite because of lack of staffing available. It's why they're giving some nurses $3,000 a week to travel to help.
But 99% of nurses are working their normal amount and using the virus as new leverage to claim they are over worked and underpaid.
Nursing unions are absolute fricking scum.

Even if they are working those normal hours most Eds are holding because there are no beds upstairs. Acuity and volume are sharply increasing. Staff is asked to flex and take on more patients than normal.
Tik Tick videos do not represent 99% of hospital workers.

Yeah, not for four hours. On normal shifts there is a ton of BS time. I have seen it.

You must be a bean counter?
If not you sound like one. A guy with an MBA and also HC Administration. If there were no downtime, the job is impossible,
