Idiots voted to get rid of the Police Departments and replace them with social workers LOL ! Yea that will stop crime.....
How long before they call in Snake Plissken to clean up that place.

Been in the market for a boat. Is there a boat dealership I can go raid in the name of George Floyd while having a social worker try and hunt me down?

A veto proof majority of the city council voted to defund the police department.
Scruffy is interested to see if their mayor finds a way around it.
Not sure how though.
The protestors don’t seem to be willing to give any ground.
The police will likely start quitting soon.
It will be very interesting to see where it ends up.

When they’re nearly out of the city:
You’re gonna make it after all!

Minneapolis will be the biggest ghetto in the country within 5 years if this happens.

Sounds like they will actually have to take it to a vote to actually follow through.
Think the majority of citizens will vote yes... I doubt it

This is false news.
They haven't voted. They expressed their intent to do such a thing.
Even if it passes, it will take years to dismantle the police dpt.

Correct. 9 publicly stated they would be voting for it. Which from what I understand would make it veto-proof

Again should be interesting.
Scruffy does expect the police force to start to dwindle anyway.
Why would anyone stay on?

However, it likely won't be that easy for the council to make a drastic change. According to the city charter, the council is responsible for the funding of the department -- and is required to maintain a minimum force determined by the city's population -- about 723 officers based on recent population estimates. The mayor's office is given "complete power" over the department under the charter as well. Currently, the city's budget allows for about 888 sworn officers. In order to change, the charter, an amendment would require a public vote or full approval of the entire city council along with the mayor.

Would you live in a city with no cops? I realize they'll have some type of law enforcement but it seems like this would certainly make crime increase.
