How do you suggest that we go even more above and beyond? Should I drive to mexico and make the part myself?
Yes, and pick us all up some REAL Taco Bell while you’re down there.

TIA.

In just two more weeks.

Come on, we can do this. Together.

I mean, I work for a professional services firm and we're still waaaaay behind on work mainly because of Covid. We couldn't do client office visits for almost all of 2020, and we weren't really set up for work from home. Adn we just had 2 people quit so I don't see us digging out of our hole anytime soon. Yay more long hours this fall!

I hate using it as an excuse, but when it is the main reason what else can you do?

Why? Why would there still need to be cleaning rules? We know Covid isn’t transmitted in surfaces.

What the frick does facts and logic have to do with Covid responses?

I mean we just saw our Hollywood and political elite attend super-expensive galas where the only people wearing masks were the serfs...err...staff.

There is no logic. There is no consistency. There is only rules for the elite, and rules for the rest of us.

Now shut the frick up, put on your mask, and obey your betters.

You obviously don’t deal with international shipping

Yep. Our customers think it’s bullshite but it’s slower than ever. Available shipping containers is a shortage

Now, the stuff happening within the US, restaurants and whatnot, I blame that on people not wanting to work

Biggest cop out ever.

Yeah and no

Yes, it’s being abused, and no it’s not made up. There are very real issues coming from Covid, MAN MADE no doubt, but still issues with shipping, raw materials, manufacturing, etc, that are putting a strain on the supply chain. It’s not bullshite. The cop out for me comes with accepting our doom, and not coming up with alternative solutions to the problem like product substitution, dropping lines and picking up others, etc. Saying that’s just the way it is, is not going to get it. We have to be more creative than ever in finding temporary or even permanent answers to these problems.

You obviously don’t deal with international shipping. The biggest problem is the ports have these idiotic cleaning rules (thanks unions) that have slowed port traffic. Off the coast of California is 88 full container ships just drifting. Before this overblown pandemic we might have had 1

Is this why I can’t get a muthafrickin McGriddle in Mandeville??

Good to see it coming back...over the past few months I've seen it once, but a majority of hotels I stay at are putting out a few yogurt cups and/or muffins and calling it good still

It's not a cop out in plenty of cases.

it's not a cop out in a lot of instances that we personally see and interact with on a daily basis, but a lot of it is on the backend.

i.e. I don't blame HEB/Kroger/Publix or Gatorade for there not being gatorade (acknowledging that a lack of gatorade is a very first world problem)

i don't blame the restaurant/waitress for having low staff and being slow in the process of getting me a meal. i don't blame them that i can see the restaurant is half full, but there's still a 20 minute late.

on the backend, we have almost 100 container ships sitting doing nothing because of ridiculous union rules outside of CA and a bunch of production facilities that are waiting on materials to get to production here in the states.

more on the backend, this is the first month where extended unemployment and the eviction moratorium have ended. the concept of not paying people to stay home above and beyond with no fear of losing a roof over their head is only 21 days old for a lot of the country.

question: what do the ship's crew and workers do during this time? Are they getting paid to hang out off the coast? Or do they only get paid once the work starts?

Good question - I have no idea.

Now you're getting the hang of it.

But for real, it's hell getting materials in these days. I placed an order in February for some things. It's normally a two month turnaround. I won't receive the order until 10/19.
