When do you see kids across the country going back to school?

We are set to go back April 27. What are the odds of that happening?

August/sept
Edit: we are not on the year round schedule

All schools should be in session during the summer. Time lost should be rescheduled. The minds of our youth depend on it. Our taxes are going to pay for this education and teachers have a duty to educate and make up for lost time for which they were compensated.
One of my cousins is in public school in Texas and she gets an assignment from her elementary level teacher every Monday online. It takes all of 30 minutes to finish the assignment. And that's it for the week.
The teacher does not do any teaching except upload an assignment sheet and grade it, which for a class of 25 should take an average functioning adult less than an hour to complete. Yet this "teacher" is making full salary with benefits, and is awarded time for teaching for pension benefits. For those saying they shouldn't go back to school in the summer because they would only be in the midst of exams and LEAP and whatnot, if that's the case, and teachers are not needed, why are teachers paid for the last 6 weeks of school if their roles are dispensable?
When I learned of this negligence in appropriate tutelage, I immediately began taking breaks from my efforts to make a vaccine. Each day for three hours, I get on Skype and teach my cousin maths, English and Koine Greek. By July, she will have translated the entire New Testament.

Next school year.
Not many lazy educators going to want to end this gravy train of no work and all pay.

We’ve reached the point here where it makes little sense to go back this school year. Schools are set to reopen May4th, last day of the school year is May 21st.
Schools would legitimately just be day care for 3 weeks.

No chance it happens before August

Why? Because they missed one quarter? 1 week of that was Spring Break, 1 week was Senior Exams, 1 week was Leap Test, 1 week was AP test, 1 week was Final Exams, the rest of the days were half days and bullshite. The kids are doing their work at home and submitting for their final grades. They aren’t missing anything.

that is what they should be doing.

Sounds like it would make sense to have a 3 week review period. Especially for those making a Junior high to HS, or HS to college transition
Edit: for the kids and parents that actually take school seriously

There are summer enrichment programs already in place for that

August. Many kids currently in elementary and middle school will never catch up on the lost instruction and will end up barely functioning idiots.

I can see next school year starting a couple of months late. We've got a long way to go.

Was not aware, my kids aren't at that level yet.
Biggest question/concern I have is will this become the new born for schools. Temps drop below 40 in NOLA, can't risk it shutdown the schools for a week they can learn at home. Oh no, there's a possibility of a TS in the Gulf, let's shutdown for the week and home school

They should be mandatory for all students this summer.

I had the same discussion with a family member. Basically their kids week of work takes 30 min - 1hr.

I hope they get at least 1-2 weeks back for the kids. Let them say good bye to their friends, do yearbooks and stuff.

Google Classroom has proven to be very helpful. I can see a lot of good coming from this for future interruptions during the school year such as weather days. As long as people have electricity and internet and aren’t evacuated
