It took 3-4 weeks to start getting it back slowly.

For a while things smelled and tasted really weird. I remember specifically that any sort of meat getting cooked down in a skillet smelled like gunpowder and chemicals. that went on for a while, but I'd say its all 100% back to normal now.

It took a few months but three years later still have some things that don't smell the same.

The cologne I used before covid now smell horrible to my nose. Had to find a new one.

Obviously reading the posts it's different for everyone.

Like 2 years later but i had the early OG covid. Never lost taste but the smell was completely gone for a long time. Still not back to what it was.

6 or 7 days.

I was basically training mine like you would any other muscle. Trying to eat various foods that were sweet, salty, sour, spicy, etc. I also grabbed a bunch of the essential oils that my daughter has and was smelling them.

One week. Could only taste if something was sweet or salty. Could not determine flavor. Gumbo tasted like salt water

she put about a cup of hot sauce in the soup I was eating- couldn't taste it at all.

she also poured me a glass of water and another glass of vodka- only way I could tell them apart was the vodka was drier than the water- if that makes sense.
Good lord that sounds horrific.

You could eat rancid food and not even know it?

Probably close to 8 months before restoration.

It was like 3 days. I was so excited when I was able to taste beans and cheese and salt. I wasn't eating much so that taste made me yell out happily.

Covid did kick my arse though. Wasn’t myself for like 3 weeks.

August 21 is when I got it. Nasty version

Same. The way I describe it is things just don’t pop anymore. Like you would eat your favorite meal or restaurant in that first bite. You would savor and just close your eyes like it was the greatest thing ever. I don’t get that anymore.

I can go to Del Frisco’s and have a $80 steak and it’s good but not what I remember.

I’ve never had covid, so I don’t believe it actually exists.

Are there any theories about what it affects people so radically differently? Assuming it has to do with genetic code and/or blood type? It makes sense to me that people with poorer health would have worse outcomes, but the wide variety of symptoms being present/not present seemingly randomly is so strange.

For the taste a buddy of mine said he went to jersey mikes and just got everything put on a sub he could think of that was spicy and acidic. He said it worked and his taste came back. Prob worth a shot.

After OG covid, it took about a week for my taste to return and probably 2-3 for smell. I don’t notice any differences in my senses post-covid. If any, they’re small.

My wife took about twice as long for both.

I wonder if you are fortunate enough to have caught an older strain that has been diminished in numbers but is not entirely extinct. Lucky you!
