God damn...times have changed
Growing up in the late 70's early 80's was different
My mother was a absolute saint but..
when we F'ed up... especially if our stupidity put our lives or the lives of others in danger our butts met the ...

I’ve only spanked my daughter one time. I count to 1 and she does whatever she’s suppose to do.

The only time I really remember getting spanked was when I ran away when I was 3 or 4. I wanted to live at the neighborhood park so I could swing and live in the big slide. My dumbass didn’t know directions though and I got lost looking for the park. Some stranger picked me up and drove me around the neighborhood until I recognized my house. I don’t think it was the running away part that got me the spanking. It was me telling my dad he wasn’t the boss of me.
Regardless, never ran away again and definitely never tried to tell my dad who was the man in charge again

Two kids here….adult age now.
The 3s were WAY worse than the 2s for both of them. They were totally getting spankings by then. Spankings by hand until older where that was no longer effective. Then we got a paddle made and used it when needed, which wasn’t often actually. When you actually spank instead of just constantly threatening, our experience is that you don’t have to resort to that often cause they KNOW you will.
Edited to add that nobody should EVER count. I don’t know who made that up but that attitude contributes to a lot of what’s wrong with kids and parenting these days. The adults should be running the show….NOT the kids!

Matter of fact I’ve never spanked anyone’s step children (at least before some of the women attained the age of consent).
I’ve never had step children, except biblically.
