my son is 22 and we just had our first bourbon on the rocks together watching the lsu game. he wasn't a fan. he's not that partying\drinking type anyway so i feel like i dodged a bullet with him. the daughters, i have to keep eyes on at all times.

Seems like we both have overachievers as sons that identify as daughters

Don’t think I have ever seen my dad drink. He is in his 70s now.

my dad wasn't a drinker, mainly out of respect for my mom(her dad was an alky,) twice, at the duck hunting camp I saw him imbibe, once was about a half a glass of red wine, the other a small glass of bourbon, I made up for it though

Then after that you could all get together for a night of coke, smack and meth...

Parents weekend at LSU. I went to Freds with her and her friends along with some other moms. She was 19. She will be 21 tomorrow so I guess I'll be having one with her tomorrow too.

I drank with/around my parents after going off to college. Never would dream of it before. I guess they figured at that point I was an adult and as long as I was being responsible they didn't care.

I had the best chocolate shake ever at 6 years old. My parents were very upset when they saw me drinking out of it though. I guess they really wanted the shake for themselves.

How about, don't drink with your kids and act like drinking is ok? How about teaching them the negatives about drinking

So don't treat them like an adult like the rest of the modern world?

Drinking is ok, in moderation if you arent a scumbag like me.

Bold move. I say treat them like an adult and let them make their choices but based on a full plate of information.

I cant help you not commit slow suicide each day but I can certainly teach you about the death sentence it will become - brick by brick, alcohol does that trick.

If my mom and I are eating, we will drink up

If my dad is with us, nobody drinks.

It’s stupid. But he thinks that drinking with your kids is bad parenting and I’m in my 30’s and It’s an argument and discussion we would just all like to avoid
