There are people that pay $800 a month for a truck they don't need that get defensive about their decisions in every "trucks are too damn expensive" thread on here. It's what makes them fun.

How is that even possible?

I don't remember the exact numbers as that was 15 years ago. Probably wasn't really all that much but felt like it to a dumb, poor, 18 year old. Defaulted on the terms at least once and had to bail out with another loan. Took 2 years longer to pay off than was supposed to

72 month financing isn't the issue. There was 72 month financing in the late 90's and truck prices weren't over 30k back then.

I'm guessing when 2008 happens again there just won't be any new trucks to buy at the dealership. Period.

The markup on trucks is insane, it's propping up Ford and GM single handedly. You should be able to get a large amount off sticker, if you are going to use the MSRP as a negotiation point.

Didn't lie about the price at all. Unless they had some more in the back, 58 was the cheapest one with the options I wanted. It wasn't a King Ranch or Platinum. I'm not going to argue with you about a god damn truck.

The extended term financing is part of it, but most trucks now are also luxury vehicles. Combine that with their being a status symbol and you get extremely high prices.

You have to ignore lunchbox. He pays sticker and doesn't think you can get a good deal.

I don't doubt it was $58k sticker. I doubt it was the cheapest one on the lot.

Of course they had more.

We're not arguing the price.

Exactly. My household income is almost $200k but paying $800 a month for a vehicle is just stupid and completely unjustifiable. I have four kids, a 401k, a money market and a house I'd rather invest my money in.

Automobiles, especially financed ones, are the worst depreciative asset you can purchase. I need a reliable vehicle to get me from A to B and my five year old truck does that.

Sticker is meaningless now. Rough numbers on my last truck went something like this(don't remember exact) $45 Sticker/$39 advertised as a sale/$33 final price.

I don't understand how people don't know this.

That will do it. Probably fricked up your credit too

One thing people don't take into account is the high resale of trucks. I paid 52,500 for a 2014 f250 and will get 25k trade in next year. 4 year finance, trade in when its paid off

Now a new f250 is going to run me 65k so I'll be financing around 40k

Also still waiting for your alternative to comparing your deal to others with something other than the sticker price.

I don't know exactly what the numbers are, but if you can get 25k as a trade in, you can get close to 30k selling it yourself.

However, they may "give" you a higher trade in value on paper to get you into a note on a new truck at an above market value.

If some of you baws are just driving a truck to have people look at you, at some of those prices you might be better off leasing.
