Watching old war documentaries and dammit if every photograph from back home doesn’t have everyone looking great and dressed to the 9s. I wonder if it’s just because people got dressed up for pictures and pictures were rarer and that skews historical perspective but it just seems like people used to dress nicer. On one hand it’s probably a lot cheaper to clothe yourself today relative to general income not to mention plenty more comfortable.

I just can’t help but feel some wistful nostalgia for a time when people in general made sure to present themselves a little better. I feel like that’s a good recipe for keeping the rest of your life in order too.

A bunch of people who glorify the 50s dress like absolute slobs. It’s kind of funny.

People don’t give a shite about lot of things anymore. And the things they do give a shite about are either truly worthless or asinine.

Well I’m talking about the 40s but clearly you came here for a discussion and definitely not to condescend and lecture to people.

Societal standards have been slipping since the 60’s. It keeps getting chipped away at and chipped away at.

And you would get responses like, “lighten up, it’s just _____”. And before you know it, we’re where we’re at now.

And maybe some of those standards were too much. But I think having standards shows that people actually give a shite.

Been wondering this myself. Have watched a lot of old films over the last year or so, and it's always struck me how people seemed to be dressed then.

Because Jean shorts, white New Balances, and braided belts didn’t exist then.

Yoga pants, workout attire and fitness is more important than bullshite suits and hats in 100 degree weather

It's sad...

Grown men started wearing shorts to church on Sunday mornings...

The Pastor got pissed and finally made an announcement about it, basically saying this wasn't an outdoor festival, it's church.

moral relativism is the term you're looking for.

While I think it’s very offensive, not to mention trashy, to wear shorts to church your pastor is a moron.
