This germaphobic, hypochondriac type behavior has to be a newer phenomenon.

Even before COVID, I saw idiots putting on gloves to pump gas or opening doors with their feet.

Do people realize that they didn't have toilet paper until after the US civil war?

I saw a story about a homeless who hadn't showered in over 10 years, and he's alive.... Somehow.

I can't imagine you're born that way, like being gay, So what has caused people to suddenly become germophobic?

I’ve been sanitizing surfaces around my house weekly and sometimes daily since I caught a staph infection in 2015.

You're going back to the Civil War Era for justification of your point? A point of...unhealth??? What kind of backward frick are you?

Do you realize life expectancy during that time was about half what it is today?

And you're complaining that people want to be clean? How does that affect you at all other than not spreading more germs that you could be exposed to?

little access to effective medical care meant life expectancy was likely limited to about 35 years of age. That’s life expectancy at birth, a figure dramatically influenced by infant mortality—pegged at the time as high as 30%.

It does not mean that the average person living in 1200 A.D. died at the age of 35. Rather, for every child that died in infancy, another person might have lived to see their 70th birthday.

Life expectancy is not the correct measure, I've typically seen it as life expectancy after adulthood.

and it’s clear that infant mortality was the issue in the 1800s, not general early death. Looking at white males (the first table) the life expectancy at birth in 1850 was indeed a dismal 38.3 years. But that’s incredibly misleading.
At age 10 the life expectancy had increased to 58.0 years.

life expectancy for 20 year-olds, in 1850 a young man could expect to live to 60.1. In 2004, that same man could expect to live to 76.7.

Do you think 16 years was added from opening doors with your feet, or since heart disease is the leading cause of death, advancements in medicine to treat internal conditions is responsible?

Germaphobia is irrational fear

No, that’s the “I have a reason and everyone else has their personal reason too so I’m not gonna be a judgemental fricktard” explanation.

I've heard that argument before. It's extremely flawed because you are literally just excluding a massive number of deaths to bump the average up. Lots of people were dying around the time because of unhygienic practices.

It Took Surprisingly Long for Doctors to Realize the Benefits of Hand Washing

No people you saw avoid door handles ever told you they thought they'd add 16 years to their life doing so. You saying that is irrational.

People want to avoid being sick or just being contaminated by dirty backward fricks like you. You being offended by that is irrational.

All your complaining is irrational.
