When did Baton Rouge come such a sh*t show, it doesn’t even have 24hr pharmacies anymore?

Pre-Covid, there where four in the BR area, Sherwood Forest, Essen Lane, corner Govt & Acadian, and one in Gonzales.

After Covid, it went down to one on Acadian and Government.

Now there are zero

Just switch to heroin. It’s basically the same stuff and you don’t find yourself in this predicament.

I happened to be at that Walgreens a few years ago around 11pm because it was the only one in the area open and the cashier was telling someone that they were about to stop being 24 hours. Cashier was talking about how shoplifting was rampant in the overnight hours and they couldn't do anything about it. (This was during the time when it became general knowledge that retailers told their employees not to try to stop it)

That store is still open 24hrs (only one in BR), but the pharmacy itself is not open

Covid gave the permission for doing away with 24hr anything.

I still miss 24hr Walmart... used to get up at 4am to hit the gym, then wmart and make it home in time to get the household ready for work/school. It was beautiful.

It's not just BR. Pharmacies don't make enough money off filling prescriptions to remain open 24 hours.

This.

I only grocery shopped from 1-5 am for probably 10 years.

Really cut down on the riff raff.

How often does one need to go to a pharmacy at 1AM?

It was convenient being next to the hospitals if someone had a trip to the ER or late night issue, especially with children.

BR being a shite show is because of a lot more reasons than this.

Yes but the OP knew where and how many there were pre and post covid.

How often was he in need of a late night pharmacy? Surely I'm not the only one who wondered this.

And if your child "must have" a prescription at those hours then you probably just best wait in the ER.

My kids are older now but when they were younger I definitely hit up that one on sherwood at least half a dozen times. If im being honest I can't recall what the hell even for. I don't think it's a Baton Rouge specific problem though.

Not just BR. A lot of stuff changed all across the country post covid. Businesses changed the way they operated.

Another contributing factor to them going away could be pharmacies inside hospitals. The hospitals near me have a 24 hour pharmacy inside, and the nurses ask if you would like it sent there for convenience. I think they even offer to bring it to your room if you haven’t been discharged yet.
