One of my managers at work is black and she told me once that she doesn’t celebrate July 4th. Not that she isn’t patriotic, but that her ancestors were not liberated on July 4th, they continued to be enslaved for almost a century after. It really opened my eyes as before that conversation, I had assumed all Americans celebrated Independence Day.

Ever since Coolidge left office. He wasn't perfect but he was the last acceptable president of this country.

Wtf are you talking about? You’re only 35 years old but claim the peak was in WWII.

You are just parroting shite you read and hear. Give some facts. Why is America declining? Which country have you visited or lived that is better?

Maybe America has NOT declined. Maybe the WORLD has declined. Maybe YOU have declined.

I thought I gave examples in the OP. How about our major cities crumbling? How about the rampant crime in these major cities? Defunding the police has only accelerated this problem, with gangs taking over cities like Chicago, where youths will randomly attack a person because that person does not look like them?

Let’s talk about how drugs have also destroyed so communities in this country.

By every measure crime is lower now than any point in history.

If you think things are bad maybe you need to look at the source of your starting point.

People live longer, better lives in America than almost every where on earth. Dude, stop being a mark.

These things aren’t happening in America. Perhaps in other countries.

-LBJ began it with great society

-Nixon enabled it by taking us off gold standard

-Reagan sped it up with war on drugs/govt sponsored crack epidemic, creating mass incarceration/private prisons

-Bush put final nail in coffin with perpetual warfare/patriot act

-Obama expedited downfall

-Trump put a bandaid on the dam

-Biden’s handlers have us in warp speed off the cliff

I was fully expecting that to be the first response and it's so sad that anyone thinks that. 911 was much closer to the end than the beginning.

Feminism is the most accurate answer but there were many factors that paved the way for feminism to destroy western civilization.

i understand the point you are making, but even then, they served to cancel out and effectively silence their husbands votes for sanity and small government. so in reality they did huge damage even back then, but you are right that its way worse now than back then

kciDaTaE, why don’t you share how old you are? Maybe you are older than me, maybe you’ve seen more. I’m not parroting anything, I have always been interested in history and have learned about our country’s past. Just because I wasn’t around in the 40’s doesn’t mean I don’t know that it was the most unified our country has ever been.

No, I’ve never visited another country. I would like to, hopefully down the road. Every country has its problems, no doubt. What I’m discussing in this thread is why America has declined in the sense to where what was expected of us as a country, the standard we came to set and embrace, is no longer the same.

Tell me why crime has soared. Tell me why there are so many homeless that are filling up major cities. Tell me why, for years, inner cities have crumbled into decay and overpowering drug addiction.

Why have our leaders failed us? Why are we so divided as a nation? I feel we are more divided than ever. We are supposed to be the UNITED States of America and yet that feels so far from the current reality. We once had the world’s strongest economy, and now… that is far gone. So many Americans face poverty, hunger, uncertainty.

Why are we sending billions to Ukraine when we could be using that money to fix problems here at home? This is not a post to bash America, not at all. I just want things to get better. The first step? Talking about the past to have a better future.

I tend to agree that the world overall has declined due to geopolitics, not necessarily just US, but we are definitely losing our edge. We had/have infinite natural resources in US to exploit but we are no longer able to do so given globalism. But like Warren Buffet, I am optimistic in America and our ingenuity…

Everyone panics and acts like we are doomed if we are no longer the single greatest super power. Put yourself in shoes of citizen of any other country…they aren’t US citizens and they go about their lives just fine. Where else would you rather live than in the US?

America isn’t declining. All civilizations/societies have peaks and valleys.

We are not a perfect country. The Civil War was not a high water mark. Great Depression wasn’t fun. Neither was Vietnam War.

But you acting like we are shite.

Sexual revolution.

All of this clown world nonsense is because we rejected morality. Now we have the brunch crowd supporting corporate welfare, the police state, forever wars, union busting, and trashing the environment as long as they get to kill babies.

I never once said that we were. I love my country. Read my earlier posts to see that all I want is a discussion. We are not the country we once were. How can we get back to that point?
