re: when / why did women start thinking men want a "strong, independent, career driven" woman?

FIFY
A stay at home wife that actually takes care of the household chores (cook, clean, laundry, make sure bills are paid), and take care of the kid(s) before/after school, is pretty rare these days.

They realized we don't want a woman who is essentially another bill?

Weak men need strong women

i wanna go play golf, eat lunch with my friends and drink wine all day while she works. that sounds pretty good tbh.
I don't really know why I'd ever want a wife who doesn't work and has no desire to work.

When Baby Boomers destroyed our economy and made home ownership nearly impossible for single income households.

That said, many of the non-working mom’s in our social circle don’t do too much for the kids
My wife and I work, and take care of all that other shite and still have tons of free time. Other than having very young kids are like 5 or more kids, a stay at home Mom has a shite ton of free time on her hands.

Less money they will take when they divorce you. I have no problem with it.
Posted on 10/2/18 at 1:18 pm to JackStraw72
Mostly because men realized that not having parity in a relationship leads to formerly penniless women cleaning out men in divorce court.

Thought it but there’s that whole OT Baller thing. Still insanely ignorant either way

No doubt, how about you do you and I'll do me? My wife is a homemaker, she hasn't worked outside the home since the day we started living together. I'm fortunate and can afford that. If you or or anyone else needs the second income a working wife can provide, then what does that matter to me?

I'm totally down with a "strong, independent, career driven" woman. We won't have kids, we'll make millions of dollars and travel around the world on our private jet, looking down on the poor guys about to get divorced with kids who will grow up to have a career behind a cash register.

It's because these things aren't a full time job anymore.
Posted on 10/2/18 at 1:24 pm to JackStraw72
Because it means more money for the household.

The fact that you are personally grieved about me saying something not to you that is essentially the same exact thing you are saying means:
1. You're stupid
2. You're insecure about something I said.
3. Both
As is usually the case on the OT, it's probably 3.

strong, independent

career driven
Depends on the career I guess but definitely comes with perks.
If she leaves she cant take half your shite...when you both own everything.
She will take what she bought. She will respect your money because she also makes her own.
She will respect what you do because she has her own job as well(if you both make similar income/or you have a respectable job)
