Uber 4.83. But I’ve had it for a long time and have over 500 rides. With that much time came too many drunk rides. My ex wife threw up in 3 different Ubers. So I have almost all 5 stars and then eleven 1 stars

My Lyft is newer and with 205 rides I’m at 5.0 stars

4.97. Which is kind of astounding considering how many of those rides were me blackout drunk.

109 - 5 Stars
2 - 4 Stars

I know one of those two four stars is when my a-hole coworker made the Uber driver stop for dip

I do rideshare on the side. For me personally, they have to really tick me off for me to give below five stars. The previous poster is right in that you rate right after the ride and are often just trying to get to the next one, so my standard is five stars. In hundreds and hundreds of trips, I've probably given below five stars 5-10 times.

The biggest things that will get me to lower your rating: keeping me waiting a long time, especially when I've having to stop right in an awkward pickup spot (like the middle of the street), smelling (no, I'm not immune to your BO), if you're blatantly rude (making a passive-aggressive comment).

I can't remember if I've rated below a 5 for this, but something that definitely risks it is playing backseat driver. I know where I'm going, I have directions, I don't need you piping in from the backseat.

However, 98% of people are either great or tolerable. And while tipping in cash basically assures a 5 star, if you don't do that, I don't count it against you when rating you.

probably lower because I cancelled a trip one-time because the driver was taking forever to show up. Like literally sitting in his car a mile away not moving for what seemed like forever.

No clue what I did. Maybe I didn’t tip enough? Maybe I made them wait longer than they wanted?

I don't know of a way to rate a rider who cancels, so I doubt that was it. The driver might have been doing that on purpose, hoping you'd cancel to collect his/her tiny cancellation fee.

I think, with ratings, it's so random, who knows why people rate you, or me, the driver the way they do. I remember randomly getting a 2 star out of nowhere when nothing had gone wrong, from my perspective. I think it was because they wanted to ruin my 5-star rating.

In general, I think both riders and drivers are almost always giving out 5 stars and not thinking about it critically, but you run into the occasional rider/driver that acts like some form of rideshare critic with how critical they are of what should be a casual trip.

Stopping at the store or going through a drive through is the worst. Drivers get paid 2 rates - per mile and per minute, at least for anything that goes above the minimum fare. The per mile rate is much higher than the per minute one, so waiting at a store or a drive through is an opportunity cost - you're only getting paid the miniscule per minute rate by just sitting around and you're also wasting time for when you can get your next pickup since you can only do so many rides per hour.

I started declining any rides that had multiple stops because of this. If I picked up someone that wanted to stop somewhere without putting it as a stop beforehand it kind of depended on my mood and what time of day it was. If it was close to closing time and there's a surge happening because of all the bar pickups, no I'm not waiting in the 10 car drive through line so your drunk arse can get jack in the box.

Some riders understood this and gave extra when they made these requests. For example I did pick up one of you baws a while back from L'Auberge. You gave me a $100 bill to stop at Mr Ronnies when they were still open, and I saw you have Tigerdroppings out on your phone while we were waiting on the food. Whichever one of you that was, I appreciate it.

The apps were created to do away with this. Any rider who does this is an ahole.

I don't even accept a ride if it has one stop and it always annoys me when riders add a stop after I picked them up, as that's now what I agreed to when I accepted the trip.

I didn't mind a stop at the beginning, then I had to do a stop in a sketchy neighborhood where I felt like I would be carjacked at any moment. We're paid what, like 40 cents a minute for the stops? And, after driving this guy around, what I thought would be a huge tip ended in three bucks.

Yeah, not doing that again.

Guess I win the low rating award at 4.68 on Uber. Lyft has me at a solid 5.

Not sure why mine is so low. I have Ubered in a few different states plus Mexico.

My last drive was early 2020, but I just looked at the breakdown for that fare and it was 12 cents per minute. I'm sure they increased the rate just like everything else has gone up since then but I doubt they've quadrupled it to 40 cents. It was 80 cents per mile.

I think the rates differ depending on what area you drive, that was BR so if you're in NOLA it could very well be higher.

The point is the app was to do away with this so there was 0 expectation to tip in cash. People who tip in cash mess up a perfectly good system.
