Quality Program: Do it right the first time. Calculate and chart the cost of compliance and non-compliance, etc. No telling how much we paid a consultant for this stuff.

What most don't understand is that big corporate initiatives are

1) sometimes the only way to communicate in large organizations

2) a way of getting all the lemmings marching in the same direction

3) a distraction from the real hard stuff going on. They'd rather people bitch about the initiative than be aware of what's about to hit them...

These large culture changes or initiatives are to prep you for the mass firings which are in their way. This way they can say you don’t fit in the culture or use this as performance management and have a way to fire you with cause.

Either that or shite is about to hit the fan like in Wells Fargo and the company is trying to say we have enstilled this culture for several years and these people were outside of what we stand for.

One thing to remember is the people pulling the strings behind the scenes will always know more than you do. You are either dumb or too naive to think differently.

Well the executives have to keep themselves looking busy. So.... they typically come up with acronyms for the new strategy or adopt some kind of fad management style.

Safety is another big promotion that while extremely important it often becomes very redundant and people get numb to what they are preaching. Too many safety meetings and reviews and finger pointing just to fill out paperwork on why Billy got a paper cut. Maybe Billy just got a paper cut and that’s the end of it?

We’ve had issues with control groups coming up with ridiculous mandates.

By far the stupidest: “you are no longer allowed to use excel or word unless you register the document officially and provide a copy to us for retention.” Needless to say, management and senior management quickly told the control team that they we’re stupid and we would not be doing that.

its because "those that can't or won't, teach or preach", much easier to advance up the corporate ladder "talking the talk" rather than "walking the walk"...

I work in the corporate headquarters of a company with 240,000 employees and it’s relentless in our office.

However, my new job is in strategy and planning next to our c-suite folks and this floor is immune to that shite. I don’t make a lot of money and I’m on the bottom rung in my group, so that’s not a brag. It’s just interesting to see that corporate hoonanny disappear on the top floor

Yeah, this was a financial institution.

Control, obviously having no idea what we do, imagines that every spreadsheet we look at is some sort of risk in some way but they didn’t realize that excel is sometime trial and error

Sales and revenue cover a multitude of sins.

You can't save your way to prosperity.
