I actually do not follow the Department of Energy’s recommendation of raising your thermostat temperature 4 degrees at bedtime. This is a function of your body’s thermoregulation at nighttime.

this doesn't answer my question. Most people, in fact everyone I've ever met besides you apparently, have it set higher when nobody is home and lower it (or keep it the same, whatever) when they are home. I honestly can't think of a single reason to do the opposite.

If you are allegedly comfortbale with it being set at 79, why not just leave it at 79 all day instead of 77 when you're gone?

I am a cold natured person, but I like it to be kind of cool when I sleep. While I could sleep in 79 if I had to (well I guess if I had too I could sleep in any temperature, if I had no choice), but 79 degrees at night?

70 during the day; 68 at night. If I think about it, I’ll push it up to 72 when we aren’t home.

Our house is well insulated, so our bill is never very high considering we keep the house 30 degrees cooler than the outside.

76 right now after the last utility bill of $372. Lower it to 74 at night to make sleeping better.

It's mostly futile to think you can get most house in S.E. La. to more than 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature, and this is especially true for older homes like mine.

no one is at home during the day, set at 78
at home in the evening and night, set at 74

my unit was sized well and pulls the humidity out very well so 74 is very comfortable

If I’m not home, usually 76. When at home usually 74 or sometimes 73. I have a newer unit, so 74 is pretty cool.

Usually 74 or 75 at night.

If I’m gone on vacation and no one is at home, it gets set on like 82 or 83 so that it doesn’t run as much.

For fricks sake why??

I keep my house on 73 during the day and 68 at night

during the winter it would have to be in the 30's for us to even kick the heat on..
