My company had been matching 3% and putting in 5%, so if you put in 3% you got 11%.
That is changing for 2020, they are reversing it, putting in 3% and matching 5%, so possible 13% if you max.

Oh, well, in Australia, they legally have to invest 9% of their salary into superannuation funds. Big business over there now. Fund managers are guaranteed with a large constant cash stream.

401k- Max match is 4%
Deferred comp- max match is 3.5%
Can buy stock at 15% off the lower price the first/last day of the half (ie Jan 1/ June 30)

Why contribute to a company that doesn’t match
I’m older maxing out 401 over Roth. Making around $100k with the OT this puts me in a lower tax bracket now. I won’t have this kind of income when I retire in 6-11 years. If I were younger I would max Roth then contribute to regular 401k. Next year I hope to do the reverse.
When I was chasing turnarounds and not in a 401k, I kept a level of paying an extra principle plus on my house. This is a good alternative to a 401. Some would argue against this with low interest rates and a hot stock market. Being older having a house paid off at retirement was part of my retirement. Piece of mind any way.

Just like people who say put 20% down on a house payment when interest rates are super low.
So you’d rather pay PMI?

3% whether I put in anything or not. They don't match but I guess a free 3% isn't bad

No match.
They give 10% of salary and bonus’s to our 401k yearly.
Sweet gig.

100% match of 6% + additional 6% 401k Profit Sharing = 12% total.

My old company was 6%.
My new company is 100% of the first 3%, and 50% of the next 3%.
Seems like a good time to ask, what is the benefit of the 100%/50%? Wouldn’t it be the same as 100% of the first 4.5%?

They give us 2%. Then if i do 6% they do another 4%.
Posted on 12/10/19 at 8:17 am to Eli Goldfinger
First 3% - 100% match. After that, 50% match up to 5%. I guess it's OK.
Posted on 12/10/19 at 8:30 am to Eli Goldfinger
Contribute 8% they’ll match 6% plus a 3% pension
Posted on 12/10/19 at 8:33 am to Eli Goldfinger
Mine doesn't really have a defined match. They just arbitrarily make a once a year contribution and I have no idea how it is formulated. I'll say that it's not that good.
Posted on 12/10/19 at 8:37 am to Eli Goldfinger
They give us 6% without putting in anything and will match another 4%. So you can put in 4% and they will match 10%.
Posted on 12/10/19 at 8:38 am to Eli Goldfinger
I'm an old timer but for me if I put in 6% they will put in another 4% plus they put "pay credits" into another account that is similar to the old fashioned pension. It works out pretty good over all. They end up putting in somewhere around 15% of my pay among the 2 accounts.
Newer hires get a better matching deal but no "pay credits".
Wife is in healthcare and her hospital quit matching pretty much the day Obama was elected. Hospital sold to CHS and they match, but it's CHS stock which blows goats.

Anyone that says put as much as you can into your 401(k) and nothing else doesn't know what they are talking about.
No, but you should attempt to max out your 401K and then start contributing to other savings accounts.. it's fricking tax free. Max it out then go to other savings.

50% match up to 6% ...we also have a pension plan.
