theyre just unsightly, too high, often too restrictive to pedestrians, and appear to stick out too far in many turns. my wife is Asian so there's that concern, too but so far no damage.

It's for their own safety...keeps them out of the roadway.

The new curbs are perfectly angled for maximum stomping

18 wheelers climbing curbs to make turns they have no business making is the overwhelming cause of curb damage in town. Wouldn’t surprise me if they are trying to counter that as a prophylactic.

Oh, is that what he’s talking about? The. Yeah, they are replacing old bus stops to make them more accessible. I didn’t think that’s what he’s talking about, as most of those aren’t directly on corners

The new curbs by bus stops are because a federal judge ruled that the previous stops were discriminatory against people in wheel chairs so the city was required to build the bus stops up so that wheel chair users could more easily access the bus entrance

It’s that way everywhere. Whoever has been forming the curbs in this country for the past 5-10 years gives no thought to the fact that cars will be turning and maneuvering around them. The worst examples are quickly covered with black rubber marks from tires hitting them. Yes, it’s easy enough to avoid them if you’re paying attention but they are really formed poorly.

Once you start looking you will see black marked curbs jutting out where they shouldn’t.

Road crews could just go around looking for the marked up curbs, cut them and repour with a mind on how vehicles move.

Maybe that’s the point. To slow cars down when turning. Common pedestrian safety improvement.
