Taking partners in my business.

Bought a new vehicle instead of used

Running up credit card debt in college. Took forever to pay off, and on top of the student loans and general irresponsibility post-college, my credit was pretty fubar for a few years.

I worked for a company that had a stock purchase plan. I was investing the maximum amount allowed. I held on to that stock for way too long and rode it to almost zero.
I won't ever repeat that mistake.

We bought our first house in 2006. Took a bit of a bath on that one

Bought a brand new Jeep when I was in college. Seemed like a great idea at the time. Wish I would have just bought a used truck just to get to work and school. That note hit like a ton of bricks every month.

I bought a new bass boat on an impulse about 20 years ago and financed it for 10 years at like 9.5%. Of course I didn't even use it much and am a horrible fisherman. I always thought I was the biggest idiot in the world for doing that but now there's even bigger idiots that buy trucks at what half of their homes are worth, so I guess it could've been worse.

The purchase of our second house.
In retrospect, I wish we had stayed in our first house, as we bought in 2006, right before everything started going to shite.
We've owned a couple of houses since, and I still get itchy when it comes to purchasing a house to this day due to that experience.

Investing in Cajun Cannabis.

Got a DWI
That mistake was expensive. Thankfully only cost money

My first house and first car I got screwed on both by not realizing how to make a formal counter-offer and have the dealer fix the brakes on the used car or I'd walk.
Taking too much in student loans when I should have just worked more.
Anyhoots all of those are way behind me now and were valuable lessons to pass on to the kids in a few short years.

I thought it was my fault with my house...wheww, i feel better
My mistake was....being too pessimistic. I set a budget on a house and didnt move. Realtor showed me a great house for 40k more (and doable) but..no i stuck to the plan. I liked the house i did by but thought about the other. Crash happens..both houses lost value but the one not bought was above water 3 yrs...the one i bought will probably never be

Not buying Bitcoins for $25 in 2011 when I had the chance.

As a poor college student I had a chance to take my life savings (about $5,000) and buy some Crystal Oil stock in bankruptcy for 3 cents a share. I declined. A couple of years later Apache bought them out for $32 a share. Would have netted me over half a million.

yeah, maybe my first new car is higher on the list. had a perfectly good 76 cutlass that i loved. Drove my BIL to pick up his new Monte Carlo. Got the new car fever, traded in my cutlass in for a Monte Carlo and a $300 note. Which in 1980 making minimum wage was a LOT of money.
