Ha. Ms Wellman seems like a delightful person if she thinks Super Troopers is a bad gift.

Not that any thing was bad but last year, for some odd reason, everyone decided to get me nice leather bags. I got one that was for a laptop and two that were for carry on luggage. They were nice but I didn't want leather and I would never use the one for the laptop. I returned them and got myself a Roomba. They weren't cheap, either.

My dear sweet and wonderful maw maw used to buy me an animal sweatshirt every year for Christmas when I was a kid (similar to the one below). I hated them but my parents made me wear them over to her house occasionally

I think a Christmas Day dinner at Kevin Mack's house might be a must do this holiday season.

I’ve always done pretty well on Christmas. I had one year where my parents gave me a tanked air compressor when I lived in a 700sf apartment.
But I’ll share one that worked out the other way. When I was 10ish I wanted one of those Tyco RC trucks. I think it was the one you could drive on water. I ended up getting a RadioShack RC Monster truck. I was initially very disappointed but after playing with it, it grew on me. Had ridiculously long range, far longer than my brothers nicer version. I couldn’t get it stuck, although it would eat batteries if I took it off pavement.
Fast forward to the present day. My father still has it and it runs on D batteries. It still freaking works roughly 25 years later.
This is the one I had/have

1995 or 1996. I was 18 or 19 and had no car. My grandfather's 4th wife went on and on all day about how they got me the greatest present ever, how much I was going to use it and love it, etc. I mean non-stop on and on and on. I was convinced they bought me a car.
Eventually, that dumb bitch handed me a box. I unwrapped it, thinking maybe the keys were in it. No keys. It was a fricking cordless phone. I remember just staring at it and thinking what a fricking idiot she was for talking up a cordless fricking phone so much. I didn't even really expect or want anything from him (we were best friends, whatever he gave me was always fine, though before the 4th wife he always gave my mom the money to get us his presents). She just had me convinced I was getting a car.
Of course, now, I'd give both nuts to get another present, even a shitty cordless phone, from Grandpa.
She'd still be a dumb bitch though.

I think I posted this to this same thread last year, but...
People who know me know I love shooting darts. I have a very nice, very expensive pro quality board in a nice wood frame in my man cave. One year my in-laws got me a $20 plastic one from wal mart that talks when you hit it. They were so excited for me to open it. It took everything in me to muster a smile and thank you. When we left I told me wife no way I'm taking down mine for that POS... we made up some excuse about mine being sentimental and returned it.

My aunt gave me a chocolate Easter bunny that she most likely purchased the year before.
The previous year she gave me a bag full of candy corn.

Not a christmas gift but the most awkward gift I ever received was for my wife and I on our wedding day from her grandfather. It was a set of 4 fish shaped plates in like 1970's era colored glass.
I don't fish. My wife doesn't fish. We didn't eat a lot fish. I have no fricking clue why this dude got us these plates. I think he just went digging in his kitchen cabinets and grabbed something. They weren't even wrapped, just brown bagged. It was hilarious and, obviously, regifted as a White Elephant gift that christmas.

My Aunt Clara had for years labored under the delusion that I was not only perpetually 4 years old, but also a girl.
I got this Christmas, 1940:
My old man said I looked like a deranged Easter bunny.

A comically large bottle of Jovan Musk. I'm talking half a gallon or so.

For Christmas the first year I was married to my second wife my mother in law bought me an Arkansas Razorbacks T-shirt (we live in Arkansas) Needless to say my wife told me to thank her mom for the present. I said uh.....frick no! They understood and I never received any of that shite again!
On a side note when we got home I burned the shirt in the fire pit.
