Fox and the hound had great pool tables and great beer specials back in the day.
I remember when they first opened: beautiful women everywhere!

My mom worked at Gilhe’s back in the 80’s/90’s.
I dated a girl who worked there back in the 80s. Your Mother’s name isn’t Lauren, is it?

Personally I miss Glen's Bombay Club back in the early 90s. You could watch some very interesting interactions between older men and recently graduated sorority types not necessarily looking for a full M.R.S. degree.

Used to have a ton of good tenants and I couldn’t figure out why it emptied out. I’d assumed the price per sq ft was too high.
When did the more drinking places come in? Hooters and pool halls don't bring the best of customers to the area. And that can scare off customers to adjacent businesses.

I have lived in BR my whole life and never knew that was called the Esplanade Shopping Center.

have you seen what Ball Arena and the Kroenke folks announced there?
I hadn't seen this particular development. Entertainment districts are now attached to most new stadium builds.
It's my understanding that the same developer who is responsible for the entertainment district at the Titans new stadium in Nashville, is also discussing a similar district for the new BR arena.

Was that the one kinda next door to where Hooters is, facing College Drive?
If not, what was that bar called? I remember going there a lot in the early 2000's and damned if I can remember its name.

There was a brewery where Fox and Hound was? I don’t recall that.

I like nostalgia
I remember there being a post office in that mall forever ago. At least I think there was.
I also fondly remember the shopping center on the corner of Sherwood and Coursey where Quarters was when it had an indoor portion. I remember it being insanely dimly lit, there being wall art of Farmer and Wife, and there being some sort of sporting goods store in the very back which is why I was there a lot, usually after being left in the Foxies daycare for like 6 hours every day.
I hope the Sumerian demon lets us relive these memories while it harvests us for energy.

You guys aren't from Baton Rouge if you've never heard of the Cockpit. Where a lot of old BR would hang their hat when not at the club. Was located where Chris' is now.
As to Esplanade...Vey lost pretty much all of his wealth in a terrible software investment. If my memory serves me correct, Rick Hartley and David Vey agreed to place profits from Esplanade in an account to fund future projects, requiring both parties to sign off on access to the account. When David's investments turned sour, he wanted access to the Esplanade account and it ultimately caused their partnership demise. When David lost his money his wife left him, as any decent supportive wife not out for money would do...
Sad story.

Not in the same suite as the Fox and the Hound.
It was Capital City Brewery and it was on the other side in the corner suite closest to the intersection of college and corporate.

I watched The Domecoming at Fox and Hound 20 years ago.
The eye sore is NOT the old Fox and Hound...its the spot next door. The show it everyday on WBRZ from a traffic cam.

Pretty sure there was an RFD in University Shopping Center in the 80s. Can't remember if there was a Todd Garland or not (I think there was).
