With women and frail looking men I allow them to initiate and determine grip strength and I match. You definitely got to watch the squeeze on those bony hands. They either jab ya or you can feel their bones smush and that's awkward.

With everyone else I just put 'er there with whatever grip I normally have.

I usually gave my handshake for the hand I’m shaking. Always firm but I try not to crush the hands of the elderly, women or children.

Oh man, the elderly get a dead fish from me unless it needs to be a good one. The women have knives for knuckles and the men have the strength of 40 years of being tired of this shite.
