I went to Catalina Island one summer and had to use the 32 footer. Can you believe it?
My dad sold the 56 footer earlier that year because we didn't "need 2 sailboats".
Embarrassing to say the least...

College, probably. Eating Raisin Bran with Apple juice instead of milk.

Don't have extra money for hookers and blow. FML.

I remember not wanting to take cash out of the ATM because the fee would have been 10% of what I had in my checking account.
This was college.

Tried to rub 2 nickels together once. Couldn't afford the required equipment.

I was born without a penny to my name.

Right now. My W2 says I make more than ever, but 2 kids and one on the way kills me financially.

Living with my mom after her and my dad separated, we moved into a rent house with no indoor plumbing or windows.
I didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of.

Falling out with the old man the summer of my junior year in college while an unpaid intern (over my spending on alcohol and going out, etc). He kept paying my expenses (rent, car insurance, etc) but took my Card and cut my spending allowance down to like $75 a week (for food, gas, and entertainment). That was a rough month full of Raman noodles and tap water.

Definitely right after i got married. i had just graduated college and was working a dead end bank job making about 33k a year. My wife was making about 30k. we both got paid on the 15th and the last day of each month. We would pay bills, get gas, and buy food and would have about $20 left over every 2 weeks and we just prayed we never blew a tire or had any car issues. We lived in an apt so luckily we didnt have home maintenance.

I was auctioned off for a date as part of a charity event and actually ended owing all the women money.

Any time I've had to borrow money, i.e., houses, cars, etc. Otherwise, I guess I'd be rich.

College without a doubt.
After rent and insurance I had $120 to last 2 weeks, including gas. Ramen, tap water, dollar menu, always had enough money for beer.

I knew kids in college who would get out a 20 to go to the bar and were budgeting based on the overdraft fees.

In college I could maintain a sub $5 checking account for a week

Sold blood plasma twice a week--$40 a month. Paid my rent--which should give you an idea as to how po I was.
