Had a box of MRE's I lived off of for a month after I bought books, ect.

Nothing like sitting in the quad and eating MRE spaghetti...!

My sophomore year, 1982. My roommate and I were both unemployed and completely broke and facing not having the next month’s rent/homelessness in the face in a couple of days. We managed to scrape together enough to buy a 12 pack of some cheap arse beer (as all good young students will) and were walking to the store to buy the beer when we found a roll of cash--about eight hundred bucks. We were able to pay the next month’s rent, and both got jobs within a couple weeks so I bounced off the bottom and never looked back.

We never turned on lights in our apartment unless needed and never turned on the heater unless we had guests. Blocked the windows with eclipse curtains to keep everything in. Guests would come over during the winter and the heater hadn't broke the cold yet so they could see their breath. We sometimes went to Wendy's just to get a water and the free crackers they hand out. Go to Little Caesars at around 10 pm before they close to get the left over pizza. Ramen noodles with red hot dogs. Started seeing the overdraft notice too much so went to a strict ATM card. 100 dollars in the account felt like I was rich.

Had a friend talk me into moving to Buras late 80's for oil field work. Lived with his kin for a day or two, I then had toleave . Slept in the car a day or two before finding a house where I could work for my rent. Sylvester Yarlzabad, was his name great mam.
He gave me Miiler beers and fed me a time or two. My dog, a dachsund, killed a couple of his chickens, he was still cool though
I was shop-lifting snickers and bologna out of stores to eat. I had no electric, just lanterns and water. I was not in contact with my parents but they drove down looking for me and spotted my car from the hwy. Talked me in to going home

During college, I was called for jury duty. I actually looked forward to it and the $37.50 I got at the end of the week.
