re: What's the oldest your grandparent, great-grandparent, or even parent lived to?

My great grandmother lived to be 95. She died in 1990. Her son, my grandfather, died of natural causes 1 year before she did. It's a strange and kind of horrible thing to live so long that your child dies before you of old age. My mother told me that it was difficult to tell how much she understood towards the end.

Her daughter, my great aunt, is about the same age now.

My paternal grandparents passed this last year. They were 85 and 86.

Somewhere around 85. When I get to the point I cant do for myself, Im going to have it written in my will that my kids find someone to legally euthanize and then either donate me to science or cremate me.

Maternal grandmother, 105

My great-grandmother was born in 1865, she died in her home in 1985. I only saw her once in 1980, she was doing fine at that time, still active and aware, but my father tells me she went downhill fast in her last 3 years.

Maternal Great grandmother died around 103. She was born in 1889. My paternal Grandfather died at 93.
