Electronic steering is my latest "don't want"...holy crap when is this going to end? (Get off my lawn)
I'm going to end up spending a fortune to keep my mostly-prebullshit car running forever.
WTF was wrong with hydraulic steering?

Electronic steering is just the beginning. Steer by wire is next. It's already in the Infiniti Q50.
Imagine a day when your steering wheel is not attached to the damn wheels!

Is this the thread where we complain about how new cars suck despite being safer, more comfortable, more powerful, more efficient, and last longer than older cars?

Your list of reasons why you drive a vehicle and mine are much different...but you're winnIng...and it sucks for my side.

This. My wife and I just got a new SUV, which has some of these bells and whistles that the OP is complaining about, and I love them. It's amazing to me how far cars have come in just the past ten years.

1999 Camry V6.
I just recently cracked 70,000 miles.
Runs good as new. Haven't had any issues with it yet. Knock on wood.

So you'd rather drive an anemic, gas guzzling, uncomfortable death trap?
Interesting.

What exactly are your reasons?
ETA: And for what it's worth, I also have a couple of other vehicles that are much older than your "20 year old truck", but I'm not riding around with my family in those on a day-to-day basis.

my truck is a stick, has a fricking killer sound system/hands free smartphone system, air bags and is damn near bulletproof from the abuse i put it through.
enjoy hitting a pothole and shorting out some of your fancy electronics and spending GOBS of money tracking down which computer/sensor is haywire.

My wife yells at me because when ever i turn her new highlander i can never stay in the lane because it has no feedback whatsoever, its an awful driving experience compared to my BMW.
