Nice to see you chime in I'm sure in your climbing hay day there wasn't as much emphasis on max pullups, max hang, one arm hang, minimum edge, front levers, and all the other benchmarks so commonly mentioned today

That makes no physiological sense, they each engage a different primary muscle group. Chin-ups engage the biceps more and pull-ups engage the lats more and also engage the core more. Each is superior and inferior in its own way depending on what muscle groups you want to target and what your goals are. While neither are isolation exercises you might as well be arguing whether preacher curls or tricep pulldowns is the superior exercise.
chinups give you a larger range of motion and due to the bicep engagement you can do more. Thats why chinups are superior

Before I learned how to eat right, and was skin and bones at 145, I could knock out 25-30.

Dialed in my nutrition, and added about 50lbs of muscle and beer over the years, and I’m at about 8. At least I was this week when I did my first back workout in 2 months. Bad tennis elbow had me sidelined for a while.

I’ll never get back to that many, but I expect to be back up to 15 after a few months back working out.

Our main concern was planning all our runout routes on Friday so we had good pro on Sat and Sun when we were hungover.

Outside of hang and finger boards we really didn't use that often every climber I knew had a Digiflex grip trainer in the cupholder in their car. Our power to weight was nothing like the modern climbers especially the serious sport climbers.

Sounds like you spend a lot of time with a mirror.

Sounds like you're retarded. I am more physically fit han I was a year ago. What does that have to do with a mirror? Sounds like you're a jealous fat arse.

Now I could probably do 15+. Last time I did them was about a year ago and I think I hit 12-13.

Try it and get back to us. I bet you don't.

Will take the bet. Probably will hit 20. Other than my beer belly, probably in the best shape of my life for the rest of my body.

right?

Last time I did max pull ups I hit 23, but I climb and train very specific to climbing. That includes a lot of pulling, grip and finger strength, and staying lean. I probably couldn't bench more than 150 or something

Define Most? Without dropping from the bar? Probably 30. Without stopping 25.

I’m 37, but I also rock climb 4 days a week so it’s really the only thing I’m strong at besides my fingers
