What’s the most famous or important piece of American propaganda?

In my opinion, it’s Paul Revere’s engraving of the Boston Massacre.
If you have a basic understanding of American history, you know that this was a significant spin on actual events done in order to stir the colonists up against the British. Propaganda is a powerful tool easily used on a public that doesn’t know the facts. It’s been used throughout history for both good and evil. I used “famous” and “important” in the title because I’m interested in your opinions on each.

Exactly. Why did Revere include that?

To show modern day Americans how big of pussies their dogs are for being scared of a few fireworks.

"Manifest Destiny"
Good one. Even though it was done after Manifest Destiny was complete, “American Progress” has all the elements.

Actually I thionk that is a GREAT example of effective propaganda. The other entries in this thread are more morale than persuasive towards a cause
I think the USS Maine is another example. TDR wanted war with Spain. He sent the Maine into a dangerous harbor under rebeliion...against the Spanish wishes. then it magically blows up. TDR riles up every newspaper forcing the hand of the President
