What's the most embarrassing misbelief you've had that you're willing to admit?

And how old are you?
ITT I will reveal myself to be an idiot.. in case there was any doubt.
What's something that you believed that was absolutely false and you only learned in the past few years?
I have two.. and I'm 31
1. I thought when you got a vasectomy that you literally couldn't ejaculate anymore.
2. I thought when someone "paid cash" for something, they literally paid with paper bills. If someone told me they paid cash for a new car or house, I assumed they just showed up with duffel bags of cash.
ETA: This thread has been hilarious and made me feel slightly better

I thought you were a smart guy but within the last 30 seconds I learned that you're not.

I once wrote "all intensive purposes" on here instead of "intents and purposes." I honestly had never written it before and thought that's what the saying was, because it made sense to me.

I'll admit for the longest time I thought #2 as well. Always wanted to watch someone buy a house with $200k+ in cash lol

Nothing, just as the rest of the OT, besides you idiot, I have never been wrong.
However, when I was younger I had the same misbeliefs as you

I thought Covid would be something we'd just be dealing with for a few months.

I drank too much of the TD kool-aid and believed Trump would win in a landslide

He did win, just not in the landslide the PT predicted. You gotta be careful there. It's an echo chamber.

My highly educated, double Master's, and soon to be PhD sister fully, 100% believed that trees make the wind blow. To the point that she said, "If you'd cut down all these trees around your house, the wind wouldn't blow like it does."
It is our family's shame.
