Criminals have more rights than their victims.
Welcome to America.

So ideally you're locked and loaded with target in sight snd yell at him so he turns around?
Seems insane to me that he could have access to your home with your address where your children sleep and you can't use deadly force to retrieve your personal property that he just stole from you with a gun to your head.

Not Guilty
In Eastern Kentucky till at least the late 1970's "He needed killin" was a accepted and valid defense and meant "Not Guilty". Mountain justice may have bent the law a bit by modern PC standards but it got the job done.
Drugs on the law enforcement side and dumbing down the citizens on the other side has made it impossible to fix problems today.

When you shoot someone “you are guilty until proven innocent”
Take a conceal carry class even if you don’t attend on ever carrying. They will go over the law when it comes to shootings and guns.
In a nut shell…you never want to shoot someone ever.

First do something to make him turn around so you can put a few in the chest.
When he turns put a round in the head then a few more so it looks like you are a bad shot.
No sense him surviving then suing you.

Shoot ?
Just make him roll himself up in a piece of carpet.

Not Guilty.
Not sure when this changed. It used to be that people accepted death as a possible consequence for doing something stupid like threatening someone with violence in order to steal their possessions. IMO, if you use a weapon to forcibly take someone else's stuff, getting killed is a potential outcome. Plan accordingly.

In Texas, the law allows you to use deadly force to protect your property. That extends to personal property wherever you are. Someone trying to saw out your cat in a parking lot? Cap his arse. Robbed you on the corner of Travis and Bowie? Plug him.

pull out a pocket .380 and do society a favor and put 4 rounds in between the thief's shoulder blades?
If you're accurate enough with a pocket .380 to put four rounds in a running target the size of a basketball, you should already know the law.

In KY this has happened and was set on fire and the death certificate said
"Suicide"

“I was afraid for my life and the lives of my family.”
You must be able to say this and say nothing else at all.
If you can justify that you were scared he’d turn around and shoot you, then you’re good. If the guy is 40 yards away, you aren’t good.

If you’re white, the DA himself would personally try the case to put you away for murder.
