$118/sq ft with an average sell price of $239,900
That’s reasonable. Where are you?

Yeah real estate is out of control. We bought back in 2020 at well below the median and it was still $477/sqft. Should be well past $500/sqft at this point.

Approx $390/sq ft. I live in a nice area in North Scottsdale. I have an acre of land and just shy of 4,000 sq. ft. and I paid $845k for the house in 2005 and it has been valued recently at $1.455- with a large share of that appreciation coming in the past two years. A buddy sold his home one block over from mine in June of 2020 for just over $900k and it just resold for $1.4 million. Crazy market in this area and so tempting to sell but wherever I move I will way overpay. Some homes going on the market sell within a day and for way over asking price so that's what I would be competing against.

When we bought our home in 2009 in a nice middle class neighborhood in Lafayette, we paid a little less than $90/sf. Not long afterwards I remember reading an ad for some new condos in River Ranch that was advertising ‘Only $211/sf!’ Like that was a bargain.

I live off of East Bayou, and the going rate right now is ~$165/sf.

River Ranch hasn't really increased as much as other areas around the city, it's still around $220-$230/sf. A buddy of mine is looking to buy off of West Bayou and he said the going rate there is ~$190/sf.

It is definitely insane the house prices in California. I live in Kensington which is in the Berkeley Hills. According to Redfin we are at $928sqft. Houses that go on the market are purchased immediately well over asking. I think the SF crowd looking to leave the city are jumping on Real Estate here on the East Bay.

We’re due for a housing crash and I welcome it. This is insane.

And sorry, but I’m blaming all of you idiots paying these fricking ridiculous prices.

Yeah, thankfully Lafayette hasn’t entered the insanity like most cities. I guess the oilfield bust is a big factor in this.

I’ll live in a fricking tent before I pay more than $300/sf for a home.

Yeah, it hasn't been too crazy, but still in less than 5 years the going rate for homes in my neighborhood has gone from ~$140/sf to ~$165/sf.
