Not entirely accurate. Where we live in Houston, the average house price is $600k. Most of the driveways are single lane only so it doesn't make sense to constantly move cars.
i would assume in a $600k home you would probably also have at least a 2-3 car garage. why not park in your garage?

Teenagers driving would be my guess

yeah, there are some exceptions.
i just generally feel if people park on the street it means multi-family homes or lazy slobs who can’t keep their garages clean. both could be an indicator of trashiness.
one or 2 houses a street ain’t bad. but if you’re having to drive 10mph and swerve through cars parked on both sides of street. avoid.

Forget the Home Depot and Walmart stuff. You'll find all kinds of housing around those stores. That doesn't tell you anything. High-end grocery stores are a good clue, as are nice restaurants. The number of cars parked on the street and the general shape of the yard are also things to watch for. School ratings are very important. The condition of the roads and sidewalks are important too. You can always ask a cop too.

mimic the sound of rapid gunfire and see who comes out and what theyre holding. Also clock the police response time.

Look for streets named after trees. Usually a good sign.
All the streets in my hood are named after Kentucky Derby winners. What does that mean?

Do you see a lot of aftermarket rims?
LMAO
Oh, and don't forget to include how many 22 + inch tires

Check the zoned school demo and scores.
What type of retail/restaurants are nearby?
If you visit a national retailer, does it look like shiat?
Is there litter?
Are the houses well-kept?
Are the sidewalks maintained?
Are there any nice parks nearby?
Are there more cars than you'd expect in the driveway and on the street? How bad are the oil stains and damage from oil leaks?
Do you see a high number of "upgraded" vehicles?
Do people just hang out during the day?
Do you see more people "walking" for necessity rather than health?
Any random pit bulls roaming around?
Any Crimson Tide flags flying on houses?
What's the crime rate?
What's the predator map look like?
Look at tax assessor site and get a feel for if it's mostly rentals or owners.

Quantity of cars that come and go, and condition of said cars. Is it a group of illegal aliens who are cramming 30 people in a 2 bedroom house?
That's a HUGE warning sign within a 50 mile radius of Atlanta these days, adn I would presume it to be the same in the Houston area. ALWAYS count the cars in the driveways during the evenings or on Sundays for a good indication of this very thing!

Do the homes have wheels? Vinyl siding?

1. what kind are cars are parked in driveways will tell you a lot
2. Unkempt lawns will also
3. Ride through at dark on garbage day, if the cans are already back to the houses, then it's a good neighborhood

Clean yards and maintained yards are a good sign
Do you see a lot of folks handing out in the middle of the day? That is not a good sign

First, ask yourself this: Is this Houston?
If the answer is Yes, then it's a trashy neighborhood.
