30 years ago, I bought a 16' Alweld aluminum boat from a degenerate gambler for $300.
I've caught 1000's of fish out of it since then. Brings me more joy than any other boat I've owned.

The money that I spent for adoption of my 2 kids. And it came with a tax credit.

I second this - I hired a guy to take care of pool. He does a stand up job

500 for a flood insurance policy
I’ve been waiting for this answer. If you weren’t in a flood zone and got hit in 2016, I bet it looks like a great investment.
I had a house in a non-flood zone near Houston and it took in 3" of flood water in 2017. I had paid 2 years for flood insurance. Insurer handled the claim fairly, which involved lots of tear-out and some complexities, in ultimately paying about $90k.

Honda EU3000i generator, made life bearable during extended power outages, one lasting 14 days. Uses very little gas, always starts on first try, incredibly quiet. Now have a whole house generator, but will never get rid of the Honda.

Paying someone to move all my shite last time we bought a new house.
Seriously - that was the best $1500 I have ever spent.

This is a hard one. Is it income taxes, payroll taxes, sales tax or excise taxes? The government does such a good job with my money I just can't decide and I will go with all taxes!

How bad was it has your eyes pinned open with the laser? Did you smell anything?

On the one hand, I started wearing contacts at 11 or 12, so I was used to things, but I still HATE, to this day, anything in or near my eyes. So, that conflict was going on.

I had the best of the best (now deceased, RIP Doc.) He started doing the refractive procedures all the way back to the old school, Russian (NTTAWWT) RK procedure, then the early laser PRK and finally LASIK. Dude had ice water in his veins. I had supreme confidence in him.

5mg of Valium and I was fine. I had one job - "Look at the red light".

Yes.
(ETA: I was at about 6 1/2 to 8 diopters, very myopic and I sat up and read the 20/15 line with the bandage contacts in within a minute of the procedure being done. I still have a bit of astigmatism in the left that only impacts night driving just a teeny bit, but almost 20 years later and I can consistently get 20/25 VA with only a touch of that remaining astigmatism and just a little bit of dryness. Well worth it - YMMV of course.)

Probably not the absolute best, but pretty damn close, were some Cariloha pajama pants. My wife talked me into getting some in Vegas and they are awesome. Most comfortable article of clothing I have ever had. I wear them around the house constantly.

I smile every month when I get to pay more for my Verizon plan than what I paid to those fricks at AT&T.
But the best money I have ever spent is the mattress I bought a few months ago... life changing

Either the $2500 I spent on a used 4 wheeler to bring corn to feeders and haul deer out of the woods. Or the couple hundred thousand we’ve spent on private school for the kids. It’s hard to decide.
