Does the children’s hospital across the street not have an ER? I just assumed they did
Good question. I’m going ask now.

Kid has concussion.
If it's a kid, why not go to Children's OLOL? I recently had a visit there with my son, and care was phenomenal.
They definitely have an ER. My son was a visitor two weeks ago. It's a mile away...take your son there.

OLOL is upgrading their ER now and construction has them in a temporary area.
My Dr. told me in case of emergency go to the Lake unless it’s a burn then go to the General on Bluebonnet.

Is there a stand alone ER in BR?
I’m guessing not since you said “huh”.

OLOL is a Level I Trauma Center
OLOL Children's center is a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
- I did my rotations there
BR General is not even designated

Drive to St. Elizabeth in Gonzales or the BR General freestanding ER on 73 and I -10 in Prairieville...both are great and will take you right in.

Man for that you could probably run out to BRG in Prairieville.
Drive 15 minutes and likely get seen immediately. There will be another one off Juban soon.

Urgent care and a full blown hospital on O'Neal, but I've never heard good things about it.

There needs to be an ICE agent posted in every ER in America
The security in here is intense. Metal detectors and all.
What effect do you think that would that have on ICE personnel?

What’s the best ER in Baton Rouge?
Fortunately, I haven't been to many. But my experience with the ER at BR General for my father was pretty great. A lot of caring nurses, doctors, and front line staff.
The one and only time I went to OLOL was with my mom who had dementia. We waited over 7.5 hours in the waiting room. There were many people there who treated the ER as a regular doctor's office. The amount of able bodied individuals in wheel chairs was staggering. You'd think they must have had a broken foot or ankle. I felt for the staff. They were doing the best they could, but they were overworked, underappreciated, and it looked like many felt hopeless, because the kind of clientele was not something they had any influence over -- and they knew that many were there just to take advantage of the system.

OP should be fine at the Children's Hospital I think. TD hooked him up. Hope his kid is ok.

So was Charity NOLA, and both are where you want to be if the reason for the visit is a traumatic injury

I’m sitting at OLOL and it’s like a third world country
Man, all emergency rooms look like a third world country because poor folks are forced to use them as urgent care. That said, if you have a child with a concussion, you need to be in a true ER.
Actually, I find that the ERs that we perceive as shitty, are also the most active and typically give the best care.
ETA: If you can get the boy to throw up in the middle of the waiting room, you’ll get taken back quickly. That’s what I did when there for a kidney stone!
