Weimaraner ! !
Currently we're on #3, #4, and #5.
Great all around dog. Great with family, great in the outdoors. Mentally very smart!
We will never have any other breed.

My current dog, a Carolina Dog, aka Dixie Dingo. She's calmer than average and totally non-aggressive, which is a welcome change from our previous dog which was tough to manage.

Rhodesian ridgeback and a sable German Shepard.
Both absolutely amazing family dogs. Both loved to swim and the play in the woods or outdoors with me.

Chihuahuas…if rescued even better. Super loyal and protective, and threatening despite their small size.
We also have 2 dobies and they’re ok I guess.
Ok they’re pretty awesome too.

Golden Retriever.
I've never had another dog that can put a smile on our face as quickly as ours can. Our best friend and turning into our little boy's best friend too. Amazing how gentle he is with the infant.
I truly dread the day that he's no longer with us. I'll be a wreck. But enjoying the present!

Put that garbage out of your head and enjoy your dog's company today.

I’ve really been struggling with that lately. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, we lost our lab mix a month ago. It was incredibly painful and something I’m still upset about daily.
We have another lab and he’s almost 13, so the reality is his days are limited. He has bad hips and is now deaf, but his personality hasn’t changed a bit. Loyal to a fault - if I leave one room to go to another he will hobble behind me, even if it means I’m turning right back around to the room we just left. But when I see him struggling to walk up the stairs or jump on the couch, I can’t help but think that one day not too far off he will be gone.
It’s rough.
