I've got a mutt. I'm pretty sure it is a boxer/rotty mix. He has the body type (50lbs), face, and ears of a boxer but that black/rust color of a rotty.
This dog is amazing. I've never trusted a dog more with my kids as toddlers and goofy as all hell. He has shown the most patience I could ever ask for. We watch our kids close but there has been 2-3 times between the 3 of them that as a toddler they crawl over and start tugging on an ear and he cried out in pain. Never snapped, just waited for us to get there and as soon as we pulled them off he just started licking their face.
He is also very defensive of the house. There have been many times I've had to leave the house for 2-3 weeks at a time and I've never had to worry about anyone breaking in. If a little girl gets too close with her bike in the street, he's at the door letting her know to back off. At our last house he scared off Jehovah's Witnesses. Another time an ADT security systems sales man came to the door. After the dog's usual show of growling, barking, and throwing himself into the door when he knocked, I opened the door and the guy just says "Well, I was going to try and sell you a home security system but I think you're covered. Here's my card if you ever need it" and just walked off.
He also wants to be a lap dog so bad. He can't get enough attention. Admittedly, I sometimes lack in this department but as time passes I am getting better. He also doesn't chew anything up and never has accidents in the house.
I'm hoping since he is a mutt, his lifespan will be longer than the average boxer's.
TLDR: He has the soft, protective instincts of a boxer and Rottweiler and doesn't destroy the house.

The one that doesn't smell when I walk into your house.
The one that doesn't make you pick up their poo.
The one that doesn't leave hair all over everything.
The one that doesn't lick their arse, then your face.

Came here to say this. Most of the people claiming they have guard dogs really have no idea what they are talking about until they’ve seen a Brazilian mastiff in action. Really really smart dog. And despite the aggressive, protective nature of them, ours was fantastic with children. Both our kids and even neighbor kids. They could come and go as they pleased and do whatever they wanted to the dog. Adults would need permission to come inside before the dog would let them in

We had a JR that was a digger. Once she got after something in the ground late in the morning. About 5 I just happen to notice she was standing after it. She was laying on her side, exhausted, and still after it. I had to carry her in and cool her off. Didn’t let her outside the remainder of the day.

Aussie doodles interest me.
Doodles are good dogs, but in my town, that is all everyone owns now. You go downtown and everyone has a doodle. Feel bad for the pound pups who need a home.

yeah that sucks. I'm not a fan of aggressive pets. I'm on my third one and never had an issue, but I'm sure it happens

Half Rottweiler, quarter Lab, quarter Australian Shepard. I was intimidated by Rottweilers and never would have gotten a Rottweiler mix on purpose, but he was the best dog ever. Perfect balance of protective and loving. Extremely loyal and great with my kids. He died 2 years ago. We are getting a half Rottweiler half Lab puppy in a few weeks.

Great Pyrenees.
been reading about these since the incident a few weeks ago where a pack of coyotes attacked a flock the pyrenees was guarding....
the pyrenees killed 8 yotes and ran the rest off even though he was torn up...
my Irish setters were lovable but fliberdy jibbits...
inherited a pekapoo from my daughter when she went to college years ago...
she was special as she and my wife were inseparable...
how many of you "inherited" dogs from your kids?...
