What's the argument for the Mississippi flag to not be changed?

I'm curious because I fail to understand the outrage.

I'm sure this will get downvoted into oblivion, but here I am.

None from Mississippi State/Ole Miss fans. It does seem to have everybody else in arms though.

I would let the voters of Mississippi decide, and not be steered by outside influences. They are the only ones that have the right to make that call.

Just one more part of our heritage erased by outside pressure.

Why can't the flag represent another part of the heritage?

No one is saying that the Civil War didn't happen or that the Confederacy didn't exist.

Because white people get upset if they can't remind black people that they were slaves.

The only reason people want it changed in the first place is because they are following a cult-like dogma. They want it gone because they want it gone. It won’t solve racism.

It’s not like someone looks up at that flag everyday and thinks, “Ahh, yeah! I remember! I’m a racist!”

The largest reason that people are fighting back is because of that, but that doesn’t say anything about the history of it.

Didn’t they vote on it a while back, 15 years or so?

If the citizens of Mississippi want to change it, great. If they don't, great.

I can't make myself care either way and don't get why so many people who don't live in Mississippi care about another state's flag.

Haven’t they already put this to vote twice, and both times people voted to keep it?

State wide elections only count if the people vote the correct way. See California election on gay marriage. It didn't go as planned so they had to get a judge to rule the correct way.

Unless you live in the sovereign state of Mississippi it’s really none of your business.

Downvotes equate to a deduction in your IQ points.

Nickelback has lasted longer than the Confederacy at this point.

Surely there is something better in your Southern heritage to represent it?

As a resident of Mississippi I will gladly vote to keep it if given the chance.
