What’s the appropriate way to deal with loud talking at a movie theater

Was at the movies last night with the wife, the couple behind us was persistently talking/ laughing at stuff that was definitely not the movie
Especially noticeable in quiet parts.
The wife whispered to me how annoying it was
So I’m like (not yelling but definitely raised voice)
CAN yall keep it down??
Was I wrong?
By the way, this actually worked

Go and ask the guy working concessions. He will come in and turn the volume up on the movie. If they’re still talking, then go and ask the guy to turn the volume down to zero. That way they’ll realize they need to whisper. Then get him to come and turn it back to normal. Works every time!
