You open yourself up to having your card information stolen. If someone steals your debit card info and uses it, you’re out that money until it gets resolved. Even if it gets resolved, many times there are charges that you have to eat. With a CC, you just stop payment, the CC company sorts it out, and you’re not out that cash.

Thanks for the explanation. I rarely use CC for anything. Maybe should it seems.

Saw a similar sign posted at the CFA drive through this morning. Not sure what’s going other than Regions is a shitty bank but that’s not new.

Wife tried to go through 7 Brew this morning and same thing. They said it was only Regions cards not working so her coffee was free.

I ran by a Regions ATM a couple hours ago to deposit some cash and it failed. Said my card wasn’t authorized lol

At a minimum, you should get a $0 fee credit card that allows cash back statement credits and pay it off every month.

But you should evaluate where you spend your money, do some research on which credit card fits your personal spending habits the best and rack up points to use to pay for future purchases; most use for future travel purchases, some will do statement credits.

I think over the weekend they did some online maintenance. Maybe it’s tied to that? On another note, Regions cards are made cheaply and don’t work when trying to swipe. Nor does the swipe or chip reader work at the gas pump.

Cliffs on why?

If you are fiscally responsible, and a CC does not change your habits, it's to get the rewards. Like someone else said though, it's also better to use them in case your info gets stolen. That's really it. I have several CC. I rotate by cancelling some but also keep a couple for long term for my credit report. I pay everything off so my score is well above 800. I open up a new CC pretty much yearly.

ETA: Every year something comes up that will cost a lot. That's when I get a new CC since you usually have to spend X amount in X amount of time.

I got a Chase Amazon card (5% back on Amazon purchases) just before covid, and my wife bought so much shite we MADE money. On top of all the free gas by driving twice the speed limit, I plan on retiring 5 years early.

I just used my Regions card to donate $10,000 to the Kamala\Walz campaign. Weirdly I had to wire it through the Clinton foundation, so maybe that helped.
