Rob the Post Office and be sent to federal prison. Free food, healthcare, library. That beats freezing in the snow or sleeping on the street in San Francisco.

Thought about this before, and it's a pretty easy fix.

Find a shelter, use their eligibility/case worker to sign up for any immediate benefits I'm eligible for.

Get job at McDonald's. They give you 3 uniforms, and two meals each day before/after shift. (food/clothes)

Save a paycheck or two, and find a roommate situation to leave the shelter and get off benefits.

Use benefits as intended for the short term, but then find a low level step climb until I can get a higher paying job.

I’ve been homeless.

I asked somebody to call the cops on me, and they took me to the hospital.

I'd rent a climate controlled storage unit and spend my days there. I'd find a 24 hour Wal Mart for nights. The cheap gym membership is a great idea.

jokes aside, I'd live in a beach area with a fairly moderate year round climate

This. If I'm gonna starve to death I'd rather be somewhere beautiful.

Katrina wiped out my home and job but i took a clever route and before we could even come back into new orleans, i had my job and safe free housing secured.

How? I contacted private hotels and b&b and offered to work. I have previous experience so it was a breeze. I ended up at a private hotel that was actually one of the old orphanages from the old days.

Bonus: looters had stayed there and a lot of their stolen goods still in packing. We could keep anything we found as we cleaned up.

Join a religious order. I bet I could find a place to rest my head and get a hot meal everyday in return for handyman type work and acts of service or volunteering on behalf of the organization.

Start doing random good shite in hopes of catching the eye of someone who believed in second chances.

Living off the grid would be fun at first but I’d die pretty quick.

Would never beg without working. Would try to practice as good of hygiene as possible.

Yes, I was in my 20s when I was in that trailer.

This was just a few years ago.

Your ideas about what you would do are clouded by the fact that you don't have a crippling drug addiction. You are also presumably not batshit fricking insane, which means you are formulating some sort of plan other than "piss my pants while I yell at street signs". Most homeless people don't have the luxury you do.
